Mission Statement

This film tells a two dimensional story that depicts that despite what is on the surface, regardless of differences, pain and hurt stem from the same problems.

The Story

A Day With Dad, is a story about two boys who had to learn how to grow up without their fathers. The story is told through the interaction of 10 year old Jarron played by Trenton Lucas, and he is presenting his story for a class assignment. We are taken into his world and are able to witness his anxieties and excitements, all wrapped up in the special day of meeting his father for the very first time. We learn why his father was not in his life and get to see Jay's efforts, played by Mark Anthony, to reconnect with his young son at all cost.

On this very same day, Chad, played by Jack Dean, is struggling with the rememberance of his fathers death. His mother Bette, played by Anna Knigge, is doing her best to guide Chad, but as a 16 year old teenage with high emotions, he is beginning to get more and more out of her reach. We travel throughout the day discovering these two boys journies and how they've both managed to deal with the loss of not being able to have their fathers in their lives.

A Day With Dad, is a powerful story that follows the lives of two young boys, each dealing with the complexities of the unique relationship a son has with his father, as they are thrown together through loss, tragedy, and the justice system.

"We felt the need to invoke change and to us, that could only happen towards taking steps the best way we knew how, to write a story depicting feeling...We hope this film, through two varying perspectives, will challenge the thoughts of those who are lawmakers."

About This Team

Mark Anthony Hackett Jr.

Mark Anthony participated in his first Theatre production at the age of 7, which was a Kindergarten production of Romeo and Juliet at the Milestone School located in Mount Vernon, NY. His portrayal of Romeo landed him an article in the local newspaper in Mount Vernon. While at the Milestone School he went on to perform in various other productions including "Bye Bye Birdie" and "Hamlet". From the age of 13-18 Mark took a hiatus from acting to play Football and Basketball at his various schools.

He attended college at Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY under a Theatre Scholarship. He graduated with a Bachelors in Theatre and Communications. While attending college Mark starred in four Theatre Productions including a portrayal of African American Theatre pioneer James Hewlett in "The African Company Presents: King Richard the Third". In 2008 Mark performed in his first Off-Broadway production entitled "Finding Home" at the New Perspectives Theatre in Manhattan alongside actress Marcella Lowery.

During his senior year in college Mark Anthony wrote and starred in the short drama "Justin Casey" which tackled the issue of HIV and safe-sex. Upon graduation Mark remained in NYC to pursue his Hollywood dreams and began to book gigs in various Independent films to gain experience. In February of 2011 he made his first TV Appearance starring in an episode of Investigation Discoveries "Stalked".

Christina Gaspard

Born and raised in a small town outside of Manhattan, NY, named Rockland County. The youngest sibling of her parents, Serge and Andree Gaspard. Always had an extreme interest in the arts. Originally had plans of working in the music industry, as she worked as a marketing representative for various independent/major acts(Janelle Monae, Sean Paul, Trey Songz, B.O.B., Florida,SMASH, Musiq Soulchild, and more) while pursuing her degree in Marketing at Howard University in Washington, DC. She began writing poetry when dealing with adversity while attending college, which quickly flourished into a hidden passion.

After college, she moved to Atlanta, GA, where she began to work with local tastemakers in the music industry realm. Intrigued from the cultural differences witnessed while living in Atlanta, writing the things that effected her most through recent news, she made the decision to apply to intern for the Atlanta Film Festival. While being on the team to review the films submitted, she found her true passion, filmmaking.

Another 6 months in Atlanta was spent before she and her writing partner, Mark A. Hackett Jr., decided to make the big move to Los Angeles. During this time in 2013, alongside another great friend,  we began pre-production on this film, A Day With Dad, by going to local churches, setting up casting calls, and holding table reads, to ensure we had the best to bring forth the depths that the script held. We were haulted in this pursuit by unforseen tragedies, yet convicted to bring this film to life. We revived a new team while in Los Angeles and completed the project in October 2016.

We have had quite the journey and we intend to continue until we reach the finish line--lives impacted through the beautiful art of storytelling and filmmaking.
