ALL OF THIS LIFE

“All of This!!!” was originally titled “All of This Shit!!!”. “All of this shit” is what I was saying to myself early in 2018 to describe the set of circumstances I found myself in: lack of meaningful work, relationship growing pains, idle creativity and the ongoing American sideshow of the Trump administration. I’m an eternally hopeful person, but sometimes life beats you down. However, things improved (for me at least) and I found a new meaning for my title, it was all of this life, not shit.

Since first arriving in Berkeley in 2010, I have been making art by hosting drawing nights, going on poetry expeditions, drawing in the landscape, organizing art shows and meeting and befriending the many talented artists and muses here in the Bay Area. This film is a culmination of those experiences, inspired directly from the people I've met and who have become my closest friends.

This story is about the small, private moments when you’re at your most vulnerable. It’s about an ensemble of artists and dreamers trying to thrive in a world that feels like it’s crumbling down around you. Their struggles are not villains or the supernatural but the authority figures, excesses and lack of compassion that are always present in our society. My vision for this film is to put that kind of struggle front and center and then literally shake the characters loose from that struggle, if only for a second. The earthquake that punctuates the final moments of this story is a real threat to life in California, but like most life-threatening situations, they reveal to you what’s really important.

WHAT WE'VE DONE SO FAR

We've already shot the whole film and we aim to be done with the film in its entirety when we conclude this crowdfunding campaign!

Why so ambitious you ask? Because we can't wait to share this film with you, our audience. Our filmmaking process hasn't slowed down since we started casting. We are determined to finish our film, and share it with the world but we need your help!

WHY SHOULD YOU SUPPORT THIS FILM?

This film is about artists and their struggles. It's a timeless concept, but this much has been true throughout history, that art survives with the support of patrons. We made this film because we wanted to tell this story, because it's our story of the small struggles that happen every day. Most independent filmmakers (along with actors, gaffers, writers, cinematographers, etc) make films with little to no compensation or promise of any but that has never stopped an artist from creating. However, there are some hard costs with filmmaking that can't be avoided.
