Mission Statement

The way we tell stories is by twisting the genre, and we take audiences on a ride that they may not expect. Our goal is to move past just the intent to scare, and layer human undertones of more serious issues people face, such as loss, grief and personal reflection.

The Story

2020 has been a weird year. From the loss of jobs to loss of routine, many people are trying to figure out how to cope with the changes brought on by COVID-19. But this year has also brought a strange sense of opportunity. With Hollywood and much of the movie industry on pause, this has allowed us to focus on executing our second feature length film - and we had the perfect script and perfect setting ready to go.

Our passion is to create movies that twist the genre and keep audiences on their toes. With this movie, we turn a Survival Thriller into something that resonates with deeper themes of grief and loss. A few examples of successful movies that do this are Get Out and Parasite. We feel these themes can really relate with what people are going through right now, and then the overlay of a fun horror/thriller genre creates the cocktail for an excellent movie.

The movie was shot this past summer with a very talented cast and crew back in Oklahoma. We have finished filming, and are now entering into post-production.

Allen (played by Jasper Hammer) hosts a podcast that interviews strange people around the country. A series of unfortunate events causes him to lose his job, and his producer Kim (played by Danielle Ploeger) comes across a story that they feel could revitalize his career.

Don (played by Ben Hall) is a recently widowed farmer who honors his late wife's wishes by reaching out to her favorite podcast host to share his story. Don's story: Don claims there is a monster living in the woods behind the farm. Because he believes the monster ate his cattle, he has boobytrapped the property in hopes of capturing and killing the "monster".

When Allen goes to interview Don, what starts as a tongue-in-cheek interview takes a more sinister turn. Allen is quickly finding out that there is more than meets the eye when it comes to Don and his farm.

The movie has great momentum and so much potential, and though the filming piece has been completed, post-production can take it to the next level. Excellent sound editing, color grading, and visual effects can enhance the production value of the film and give the indie movie a blockbuster feel. We have invested our own funds for the production, but need your contribution to refine the work in Post.

Our goal with this movie is to showcase our creative talents, and ultimately win accolades at film festivals, four-wall the film in theaters, and gain film distribution. This is our second feature film (first was Home with a View of the Monster), and we have taken the learnings from the first to not only refine our creative process but also to anticipate and prepare for marketing and distribution of the film to reach a larger audience.

You can help us reach those goals but contributing funds to launch the project to that next level. Our goal amount will allow us to complete the project, but additional funds with help drive higher quality and greater marketing reach to the film.

The movie takes place on our grandparent's farm in Hobart, Oklahoma, where we spent much of our childhood. We knew the location like the back of our hand, so we were able to write very specific staging for the movie. Not only did the farm act as the backdrop of the film, but it is almost its own character. We really utilized the whole space - from the barn (which doubled as a workshop), to the house, to the woods, to the fields. Also, the set decor was already in place because the house was filled decades worth of antique memorabilia.

By setting the film in rural Oklahoma, we provide the audience a fresh setting that is often overlooked by traditional media. By using locations and talent from these areas, we as filmmakers can showcase the beauty and depth most people on the coasts never have the opportunity to see.

We are inspired by movies like Last House on the Left, Virgin Springs, You're Next, and Ready or Not.

Films such as Get Out and Parasite have paved the way for horror/thrillers to go beyond the traditional gore and scare, and have social commentary that adds a deeper layer to the genre.
