Story
Mission Statement
BOO is written and will be directed, produced by, and starring Rakefet Abergel, a bi female, Israeli/Moroccan/American filmmaker from Los Angeles. Also we've partnered with two awesome female producers, Korean/Mexican-American Sylvia Ray and Eritrean-born Lowam Eyasu. We have a little bit of it all!About The Project
So... I’ve only done this once before, but I can’t stop thinking about doing it again. Sure, it was a challenging experience, that I swore I would never repeat, but yet…here I am. My name is Rakefet Abergel, and I'm addicted to making movies. I wrote BOO to be my directorial debut, that I plan to star in, as well. Doing both will be a challenge, but I am ready for that challenge! We have an incredible cast and crew and I believe in this project whole-heartedly.
BOO is a short horror film about addiction, self-loathing, and the desire to be loved. It's a story about anyone who's ever felt like they had to hide a part of themselves, a part they didn't like. When our heroine, Devi, finds herself in a dangerous situation, she is forced to make a decision that will impact her sobriety, and her relationship. BOO is a tense tale of what happens when addiction threatens to get the better of one woman at exactly the wrong time. We all have our vices and addictions. What's yours?
STRETCH GOALS
Since we need to make 80% of our goal to be greenlit and able to access the funds, we are only asking for $15k. We probably need closer to $20-$25k to cover film festival expenses and submissions and marketing materials, as well as any unexpected expenses that come up during production. So if we reach our goal, please continue to contribute if you can! We need every penny we can get. All funds will go towards production, post production, or marketing and distribution of BOO.
If we reach $18,000 we will be able to offer better rates to our cast & crew.
If we reach $20,000 we will be able to cover the above as well as film festival submissions & expenses
If we reach $25,000 we will be able to cover all of the above and create professional marketing materials to get the film to as many people as possible, as well as cover most distribution costs.

SHAWN CHRISTIAN - EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Shawn Christian grew up acting purely for the love of it. Acting in and writing for talent shows and school plays was simply a small town passion until he graduated from Ferris State University. After earning a degree in Marketing Shawn left the next day to pursue his dream as an actor by relocating to Chicago where he honed his acting skills with a variety of acting coaches and styles. He began to find his true voice with the improvisational company “Improv Olympic.”
Just as he was about to begin Second City in Chicago Shawn got his first big break portraying working class anti-hero ‘Mike Kasnoff’ on the New York-based CBS daytime drama “As The World Turns.” From NYC he took the leap to Los Angeles. He landed recurring roles on ABC’s “Boston Legal” as delinquent husband to Julie Bowen and nemesis to Josh Duhamel on “Las Vegas.” He returned to his comic roots with a roles on the HBO series “12 Miles of Bad Road,” “Friends,” “The Drew Carey Show,” “Ellen,” “Will and Grace,” “Becker,” and Shawn experienced more than a few failed pilots and shows until he starred opposite Lori Loughlin in The WB’s hit series “Summerland” and opposite Jami Gertz and Tyne Daly in the CBS hit movie “Undercover Christmas.” Additional television work includes starring opposite Paige Turco in the NBC hit family movie "Secrets of the Mountain,” and “Shark” with James Woods, as well as lead roles in John Woo’s action drama pilots “Red Skies” for USA and quirky spy comedy “Spy Girl” opposite Jennie Garth for NBC. Shawn was excited to delve into darker characters in the role of convicted killer Danny Pelosi in “Murder in the Hamptons” and con man in “Ghost Whisperer.” Shawn started picking up film roles in Christopher Guest’s feature film “For Your Consideration,” “Shopgirl” with Claire Danes directed by Steve Martin, “Beautiful,” with Minnie Driver directed by Sally Field, Eddie Murphy’s film “Meet Dave” and stars as the lead in the cult franchise hit “Tremors III” as the offbeat Zen cowboy Jack Sawyer.
For two seasons Shawn recurred on the hit show “Famous in Love” with “Entourage” co- star Perrey Reeves. He Executive Produced, Co-Directed and starred in the independent film “Spanners,” which won the award for BEST SCI-FI film at the 2015 Hollywood Independent Reel Film Festival, and BEST ACTOR at the 2015 Hollywood Underground Film Festival. LOWAM EYASU - CO-PRODUCER, 1st AD
CO-FOUNDER VKTRY CREATIVE
Lowam Eyasu immigrated from Eritrea with her parents and siblings when she was 2 years old. They somehow landed in Barstow Ca, a small desert town that is equivalent to The Hills Have Eyes meets Breaking Bad. At 17 she got the hell out of Barstow and attended California State University Long Beach. She received a BA in performance and has studied viewpoints under Jeff Perry and Alexander Billings at Steppenwolf Theatre West. Lowam’s passion for TV and entertainment eventually drove her to not only act but write and produce her own content.
A tenacious and confident actor, Lowam left college to pursue her career. After living in Los Angeles and New York, she learned that the industry wasn’t quite representing her or woman like her. In result of the misrepresentation she started the production company VKTRY Creative a year ago with two of her childhood friends. Vktry focuses on creating narrative content for women, women of color and other underrepresented communities. She is passionate about advancing narratives that stand to uphold the uniquely individual stories that are seldom told. With Vktry Lowam has produced over 10 projects, including writing her first feature film!
