Story
Mission Statement
Written by a Polish author, adapted by a Black American, directed by a female and starring an Indian/Caucasian biracial family, ‘Brrrother’ connects all. Salute The Moon Productions also partners with under-resourced students, veterans, and former inmates on every project to expose the film world.About The Project
Love and Loss
Have you ever been in a fight with a family member? What about a friend? Making up is always a good step. But what if you haven't? Did you say something you didn't mean? Is it too late to apologize?
“Brrrother” is a powerful story about two brothers and the relationship that defines their lives. It is a journey many can relate to because bonds can be built or broken.
That decision is yours.
Reconciliation
We want to tell the story of how important relationships are in a world where no one should have to be alone. It is a cautionary tale for young brothers and sisters who may not get along when they're young, but ultimately who we hope to inspire a path to reconciliation.
In the age of cyber bullying, "ghosting," and a "don't read the comments" culture, we want just one person to reflect on a relationship they've built with just one other person. Reflect on how that grew, and reach out to them with positive words from their heart. Words of encouragement, affirmation and love to promote a culture of togetherness.
Production Status
WE ARE FILMING!
We are in production with our Director, Writer, Director of Photography, Script Supervisor, 5 other crew, and 18 cast members! With COVID-19 keeping everything in flux, we are heavily monitoring the Commonwealth of Virginia's direction and guidance to maintain cast and crew safety. We provide masks, PPE, and sanitization kits for our Brrrother team. Right now, we're limiting our production to film only scenes that fall in line with Commonwealth of Virginia Phase Two. We will follow each Phase as we enter them, up to Phase Four. While our original plan was to begin submitting to festivals in the fall, we're going to remain flexible with our timeline for those submissions. Following submissions, we will work to have the film distributed on curated streaming services designed to stoke conversation such as Seed&Spark and Kweli TV.Despite COVID-19, we're persevering however we can to make this film happen. You can help us get there.
Community Outreach
We partnered with RISE For Youth, a non-partisan organization dedicated to reintegrating formerly incarcerated youth into society as a means of reconciliation rather than them falling back into the system for several decades or, worse, life.
We invite the youth onto the set to shadow crew members, and even assist in various duties to truly experience making a movie.
This partnership brings these kids onto a real film set and exposes them to the ins and outs of the industry. We hope to plant a fine arts seed and spark their interest to pursue a career in film.
Reconciliation is part of healing, and through "Brrrother" we hope to offer a simultaneous real life and filmed cathartic moment.
As for the company putting it on, Salute The Moon Productions, LLC is an independent film production company in Hampton Roads, VA. Veteran owned and female operated, STMP is a firm believer that “everyone starts somewhere.” Whether a first-time filmmaker looking for exposure or just looking to hop into a new area of production, we invite anyone to join the team for one project or all. Salute The Moon proudly supports three, often overlooked yet ever-present groups: veterans, former inmates reintegrating into the workforce, and youth with limited academic or economic resources for exposure to the film industry.
Though each project budget varies, our primary focus is to develop life and industry skills for those who may not otherwise have the opportunity. We take particular care in partnering with local organizations that aligns with these values for each project. Whether that’s letting them visiting the set for a day or shadowing a crew member for the duration of the project, we hope to open the door to endless possibilities.B. Cherie Patterson is such a firm believer in the company that she will personally donate to Rise For Youth, matching 50% of every dollar raised above the crowdfunding campaign goal.

Current Team
About This Team
Behind The Screen
The team began with an author in Poland and a producer in the U.S. Chris T. Dabrowski shared his 2 page story "Brrrother" with B. Cherie Patterson, who connected with the story so much, she decided to produce it as a short film. She then turned to Screenwriter James Moore, who manifested 24 pages from the original 2 pages. The search for the rest of the crew began.
Jason Sheppard, leapt at the opportunity to score the film, and signed on as the Composer. Followed by Mitch Hartigan as the Director of Photography and Chris Leary keeping everyone in line as the Script Supervisor. Then came the surmounting challenge of casting the film, only Cherie didn't just want any family; she wanted a blended one. Kimberly Brooks rose to that challenge as the Casting Director.
Ready For The Close-Up
Enter the cast comprised of many people from several backgrounds and races. The Davies family made up of Dad (Greg Orscheln), Mom (Komal Smruti), Zachary and Adam, who each have 6, 12, and 18 year old versions of themselves, blend together to create a biracial family of Caucasian and Indian descent. Zachary and Adam's characters are brought to life by:
Jace Paul - Zachary age 6
Asher Jordan - Zachary age 12
Daniel Bagherpour - Adult Zachary
Milo Casey - Adam age 6
Rhys West - Adam age 12
Christian Spencer - Adult Adam
As our family navigates through life, they do so with the support with Mr. Davies' sister Louise (Nina Ullrich), and brief reminder of the innocence of children with a nurse and her patient (Roglyn Newsome and Stephanie Endlish). Later on, Adam's friends Phil and Berryshare a bond (Chris Washington and Barry Green) while Zachary tries to stoke one with his crush Karen (Abby Fedorowicz) at the encouragement of his friends (Charles Young, Richard Leon, and David Conic). Time and rehearsals fly when you have a cast this big packed into a short. But they're ready to deliver a performance you won't soon forget.
