The Fierce5 is out to help women embrace their individuality and discern what they're doing out of fun vs. obligation. Women are subject to the pressures of societal gender norms every single day. Butch Pal for the Straight Gal encourages women to do away with the status quo & step into their power.

If you’re reading this right now, chances are you’ve heard of the show Queer Eye. But have you asked the question “Why has a female makeover show never existed?” Well, we certainly have! So much so that instead of wondering and complaining about why this show didn’t exist, we decided to make it. Butch Pal for the Straight Gal is a mockumentary comedy series about the first-ever queer female makeover show. Because lesbians can do makeovers, too.

 

Last summer we ran a successful Seed&Spark campaign to gain support for pilot production. What started as just an idea quickly became big! In fact, Butch Pal got internationally recognized! Our story was told in SFGate, PinkNews, AutoStraddle, LGBTQ Nation, Queerist, Gay Star News, Ms Magazine, & many more. We were even mentioned on Late Night with Seth Meyers! We realized there were tons of other people out there yearning for this show. With a bare-bones team and lots of support from people like you, we were able to shoot our pilot. We shot a 36-page pilot in 36 hours. Still not sure how we did that, but it happened. And it was incredible.

 

Butch Pal for the Straight Gal is a unique reality-based comedy about five women (aka the Fierce5) empowering straight women to throw away societal gender norms and fearlessly harness their unique inner voice. So many women suffer from poor body image, low confidence levels, or find themselves stuck in codependent relationships that can limit their true potential. The Fierce5 hones in on a woman’s true voice, then helps her step into her power and bring that voice to the forefront. That can mean restructuring a woman’s closet, minimalizing her makeup routine, showing her how to change own tire, or literally teaching a woman to fish! 

 

Here's where you come in: We need one more round of support. Post-production is an incredibly important part of the creative process, and with your help, we will be able to present a fully realized pilot presentation to network executives, industry leaders and working professionals that can take Butch Pal to the next level.  We fully intend on BPSG being the next thing in your streaming cue, so when our show comes up on your streaming device under 'new & trending,' you can say "Yup. Bottom line: We need your help to finish what we started. We've also sweetened the pot by making your contribution tax-deductible through our partnership with The Film Collaborative, an incredible fiscal sponsorship program that allows us to funnel our funds using non-profit status. You’ll get your money back during tax season and rest with the knowledge that the US government unknowingly funded a queer female pilot project. 

 

In 2017, only 21% of TV programs featured casts with more female than male characters. In 2018, only 8.8% of series regulars on TV identified as LGBT. Butch Pal aims to increase this representation dramatically, creating forward progress for diversity in the industry, all while making people laugh.
