"Demons" is a short film that deals with rejection and respect in romantic relationships. It imagines a way for a female-sexed body, which is so often the site of violence and disrespect, to reclaim its own power as a tool to fight back.

Mission Statement
The production team consists of a queer femme writer/director, a non-binary cinematographer, and a queer producer, along with lots of women and LGBTQ creatives above and below the line as well. We plan to hire (and fairly compensate) underrepresented post-production talent as well.About The Project
In "Demons," a young woman facing the shock of a toxic relationship recounts the tale of how she developed an unusual quality: menstrual blood that's corrosive to everything but her own body.
"Demons" is a short film that was shot over two years ago – in January 2017 – that's now in post-production and needs a little bit of money to see the end of the road.
The style is somewhere between camp and magical realism and the aesthetic is high femme. "Demons" feels sort of like scrolling through a professionally-curated Insta feed of all your worst moments – heartbreak, bad sex, and general genital chaos. The central young woman leads us through her bizarre (yet familiar) tale the way she remembers it. Or wants to.
The production team is largely made up of women and queers. The film is now in post-production and we need at a few thousand dollars to pay post-production staff, and to pay for music licensing. All of these people will be NYC-based independent creatives, which is my community and one I want to support by offering them respectable pay for their time and talents. Once the film is complete, I plan to ship it around the festival circuit and tap into my networks of female/NB filmmakers for maximum exposure.

Current Team
About This Team
Writer & Director: Ariana DiValentino
Ariana DiValentino is a queer femme writer, director, and actor based in Brooklyn. She graduated from NYU in 2016 with a B.A. in Dramatic Literature and a minor in Film Production, and then again in 2018 with an M.A. in Performance Studies. Now she has a lot of debt but wants to make this film before she dies anyway!
You can see her final M.A. project, a short film entirely about herself (sort of), here.
Director of Photography: Nadia Gilbert
Nadia is a Palestinian-American director of photography, documentary filmmaker, and visual artist. Based in NYC (but often elsewhere), they shoot a variety of narrative, commercial, and documentary content across digital and analog mediums. Nadia is passionate about purposeful storytelling that amplifies voices, especially within diasporic and marginalized communities.
Katie Schiller: Producer
Katie Schiller is a New York-based filmmaker and 2017 graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Katie has directed, produced, and assistant directed a number of professional and independent projects ranging from short films and branded content to feature-length productions. Katie identifies as a queer filmmaker and finds coming-of-age stories about the LGBT community to be particularly important and integral in demonstrating their often overlooked universality. Katie currently works in scripted television development at First Look Media's Topic Studios.
