THE STORY
Fortune has smiled upon you today and it has arrived in the form of US! We're here to help change your life! The world today is moving at lightning speed. Everything is getting automated. From having your groceries delivered and paying your bills on an app, to connecting with family and friends from anywhere around the world.
Now, while this can make our lives easier, fuller... it can also be confusing and scary. Especially when citizens 65 and older are the main targets of hackers and scammers. People trying to take advantage of a generation who didnt grow up with the modern technologies of today. But thanks to the passing of Prop 60 from last years special election, we're here to provide all SSI recipients with FREE internet protection.
Have you heard anything like this before? Well, if you have, check your valuables because that is exactly the script Rob and Dan use to get in and CLEAN OUT unsuspecting senior citizens. And you would have never seen it coming.
Just like you wont see it coming in our film, Dog People. Even though... I suppose we did just tell you that it is, in fact, coming. But that's not the only thing thats gonna keep you guessing in this fun horror comedy. What starts out as a light anti-hero, buddy-comedy with two quick witted schemers and a dog obsessed elderly lady quickly turns into a story all about just how far we're willing to go to keep the ones we love the most around for as long as possible.
Rob and Dan think they've hit the jackpot when they land on Belinda's gold mine of a house. Widowed with only her and her old dog in the house its easy money for these two low lifes and they're more than happy to rip off this weird old lady. Her place might be stunning, but her hobby of making homemade dog food for the neighborhood pups leaves the foulest of odors throughout the house and she is most definitely a hoarder. And we haven't even gotten to her big, drooling, always-staring, always-lurking behemoth of a dog, Brisket. *Shudder*
When Rob and Dan decide to go for one last score in the basement, their luck starts to turn. Everything changes when Dan sees some pictures depicting Belinda and Brisket throughout the years and starts putting all the clues together...
So many air fresheners, a homemade dog food business, and a dog whos apparently older than him...? Something's not right here.
WHY THIS NOW?
Honestly? The world has been super weird for the last 7 years or so. Ever since The Chicago Cubs won the World Series for the first time in 108 years everything has been a little tilted. And this coming from a Cubs fan.
Anyway... what we all might just need the most right now is a deep, relaxing breath. Dog People is good, old-fashioned entertainment. Straight up. No strings attached. We just want to bring some joy with a fun story and really... what makes a better hero than the greatest friend mankind has ever known; a dog? I'll tell you what, NOTHING.
ALSO there's a writers strike happening right now and a lot of people are going to be out of work for an indeterminante amount of time. We'd love to give at least a few filmmakers a job in the interim.
