Raven, aka Ray, is a 17-years-old drug addict. She is deep into her addiction that other things do not seem as important as they should be. Maggie raised Ray as a single mother, she struggles to find a way into Ray’s life a little too late. The two have grown apart and do not see eye to eye. Maggie only wants the best for her daughter, while Ray pushes her help aside in pride. Ray experiences an unsettling feeling across her body and mind after consuming a substance that Wes, her best friend, gave her. Through guilt, pain, and panic, Ray is conflicted about her use and the help that was once offered to her by her mother.

I can remember always wanting to watch movies when I was a child. Growing up in the year 2000 meant growing up with VHS tapes. My young mind thought these were amazing, and I became fascinated! I was constantly asking my parents to rewind the tape so that I could re-watch one after another. I had no idea that this interest would lead me to aspire to make my own films. However, until recently, I was unsure of what that entailed.

It has been a journey to continue my senior year of film school at Columbia College Hollywood. I not only moved across the country to a new state by myself, but I am pursuing a hobby and passion for which I know I had a strong desire. I've had the opportunity to learn every aspect of what it takes to be a director. This title, in my opinion, refers to a person who is more than just the film's creator—it refers to the person who is most devoted to and connected to the visual and moral aspects of the film. As a director, I want to be able to engage audiences and present narratives that aren't simply close to my heart but also resonate with them.

We intend to submit this film to as many appropriate film festivals as we can, using it as a chance to network with other industry creatives, showcase our work, and most importantly tell an important story that may be someone's reality.

I want to delve more into the idea of self pride and lending a hand.
In this narrative, Ray refuses to swallow her pride and declines the helping hand her mother extends to her for the sake of her own health and safety.

By utilizing visual storytelling, direction, and cinematography, we hope to convey a world and a story in which two worlds collide in a tale of warmth and coolness. As we follow our protagonist through their life lesson, they will go through two very different mental states correlated through style.

Neve Chai! Aka “Maggie” in Drifting Clouds ☁️ Growing up in Switzerland, She rekindled her love for acting and musical theatre in her late 20s, and she ultimately made the unplanned decision to pursue these careers professionally in California. She has gained more experience on camera in Los Angeles after receiving her BA in Acting last year.

Sheira Lempel, Aka “Ray” in Drifting Clouds ☁️ Sheira is an actress and dancer originally from Israel, now living in Los Angeles!

Timothy Kennedy, aka “Wes” in Drifting Clouds! ☁️ Originally from Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Timothy now resides in Los Angeles, California where he is studying the craft of acting.
