STRETCH GOALS
We did it! We got the greenlight! But we are still fundraising to reach our stretch goals:
- With 14k we can make sure all of our cast and crew (above and below the line) receive stipends for their hard work.
- With 16K we can afford better accommodations (so crew isn't sleeping in bunk beds at my mom's house) and get a bigger head start on post production.
- With 20K (dreamsss) we can afford to completely finish post-production! We can also submit our film to festivals around the world, and won't have to fundraise again to get the film to completion!!! We'll also be able to reach a larger audience.
Huge thank you all for your love and support! Now that we have reached more than 7K we can ensure that our film will be completed no matter what! We're so excited to bring this vision to life.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
Echo is a very personal story to me. I wrote this film a few years after my father died, when I felt like I was losing my mom to the memory of him. My father was a visual artist, and it felt like the amount of art he left behind was overwhelming.
This film is a love letter to my mother and her strength. Echo is about how loss seeps into the places around us, even when it's unspoken. It's about chasing somebody through a landscape of loss when you are scared they'll be buried alive in it. I don't think we often see stories from that perspective.

THE STORY
After the death of her father, an artist, Morgan brings her girlfriend Sophie home to visit. But when they arrive, Morgan's mother is nowhere to be found. Morgan leaves Sophie behind to search for her.
Inside the house, Morgan finds her mother, Helen, is struggling to manage her late husband's estate. The house, and Helen herself, are being consumed by his artwork and possessions. As Helen keeps disappearing further into the house. Morgan, in turn, keeps leaving Sophie behind to follow after her mother.
Chasing her mother deeper and deeper into the estate, Morgan is forced to reckon with their relationship. And the house itself grows more suffocating until it ultimately eats Helen alive.

MORGAN
Morgan is responsible, reliable, and contained. Maybe too contained. She's just brought her girlfriend home to visit for the first time. She struggles with watching her mom's self-destructive but loving behavior, but similarly rejects help whenever it's offered.

SOPHIE
Sophie is naturally easy-going and used to voicing her opinions. She wants to support Morgan and can't understand why she struggles to let her in. She realizes she's still a stranger to Morgan's world. Bold. Stands out against the silence of the house. In awe of Helen and the world she has created. Sometimes it takes an outside perspective to show you what's unusual about your life.

HELEN
Loving but overwhelmed. Sharp. Destroys herself to help others but won't accept help in return. Loving from across a great distance. Still. It's hard to see her clearly most of the time. But she's always there, in the house, haunted.

The House
The house is a physical and psychological landscape that grows more chaotic and cluttered as the film progresses. Filled with Morgan's father's artwork and all the things he collected throughout his life. But also filled with memories, things forgotten, things found. Half-preserved, half-haunted, a suffocating labyrinth for Morgan to navigate and Sophie to observe. It will be filled and styled with art from the Todd Murphy Estate.

The Todd Murphy Estate
These pieces are examples of work from the Todd Murphy Estate, which will be used during filming. Todd Murphy was a multi-media visual artist whose collectors include Bon Jovi, Elton John, and Uma Thurman.

Moodboard
The film starts off warm and intimate, with Morgan and Sophie in the car. We see glimpses of their life together. As we go deeper into the house, there are pops of unnatural neons. It becomes colder and more suffocating until the house buries them alive.

WHY NOW?
People aren't taught how to talk about loss- and the sort of twisted, secondary losses that can come from it. Echo is a personal story, but it's about an experience so many people can relate to. It's a story for anybody who's ever been scared they're watching somebody else disappear-- into an obsession, into an addiction, into another person.
We are also a female and queer creative team dedicated to telling personal and nuanced stories. With your support we can make this project and continue to work creatively and professionally on future projects.

WHAT NEXT?
We are currently in pre-production with plans to start production in early December! We plan to submit to festivals in 2026. But even with our careful budgeting, we need donations and investments to get this project off the ground. Here's a breakdown of how much money we need and how we plan to spend that money.

A lot of our team and talent have waived their fees so that the funds we raise can go to crew wages, equipment, and to make the quality of the project the best it can possibly be. We are looking for $7,000 to make this the best project that we can. This will cover principal photography and give us a good start on post-production costs.
- $2300 for cast/crew stipends
- $1200 for camera and lighting rentals
- $1200 to feed our lovely cast and crew
- $400 for props and costumes to bring this story to life
- $900 for transportation to and from location
- $500 to get us started on post production
- $500 to share our film at festivals
Even if you can't donate, your support means the world. Follow along with our journey and share!
