The Story
As grownups, we have all experienced frustration and big emotions, but the children in our lives are navigating all kinds of emotions for the first time, and this can be overwhelming. Finding Hanna’s Happy Place, a children’s picture book, invites us to think about how we navigate our emotions and how we can support the children in our lives in learning to navigate theirs.
Sitting alone in her room, playing with her toys, Hanna feels like something is holding her back from feeling truly happy. And it's causing her unexplained frustration! This strong-willed child is not content with her status quo. Determined to find her true happy place, she looks out her window toward the mountain and has an idea . . .
She will find her true happy place in the great outdoors!
Flanked by her trusted Puppy B, who has a curious nose for adventure, Hanna sets off to explore the mountain in search of her happy place. But what she ultimately finds will surprise her.
I wrote this children’s book because I thought it would be special for my daughter to have a book written specifically for her by her dad. In addition, for her to have the illustrations beautifully done by her talented grandma, Sue Murphy. I wanted this to be a family project!

Contributions
The book has been written and illustrated. All contributions will go toward the editing, proofreading, design, marketing, printing, publishing, and launch of the book. I’m excited to be partnering with Poppy Oak Press, an independent publisher who will be working with me to ensure that I am supported throughout the publishing process. Specific details can be found on my wish list. Any funds raised over the set goal will go toward additional marketing opportunities and entering book awards! The paperback and ebook of Finding Hanna’s Happy Place will launch in the spring of 2025! You can pre-order your copy now in the incentives and be the first to get your hands on a copy when it is published. Books will be mailed out just before the official launch.
We invite you to take this adventure with Hanna and Puppy B. And we hope it brings you the same joy and happiness it has brought to us.
Thank you!
