The Story
Follow You Home tells the story of two orphaned brothers, Carter and Cal, who come from a poverty-ridden town in rural Alaska. They spend their evenings drinking and watching old movies. While they dream of having a better life, neither brother knows how to build one.
In 1986, insulin was establishing a reputation of being a "miracle drug" for Diabetes. With medical bills piling up from Carter's late spouse, the brothers feel pressured to take advantage of a large shipment of insulin coming into their local pharmacy. After being down on their luck for so many years, Carter and Cal finally see an opportunity to escape the life their parents left for them, and plan to rob the pharmacy. What follows is a heart-wrenching tale of brotherhood, sacrifice, and the lengths we will go to protect the ones we love.
Theme
We all face a form of adversity or hardship in our lives and we have to find ways to cope with such struggles. Cal and Carter represent the ones who are dealt a bad hand, ones who had to grow up without any direction or stability, ones who we often forget about or even leave behind. Cal and Carter teach us that when the going gets tough, we have to lean on each other, lean on the people we consider family. We fall in love with them because they’re like us- they’ll sacrifice anything for the ones they love.
This story is about those who are dealt a bad hand, overcome an abusive childhood, and fight through life's challenges. This is a story for those who wake up everyday when its not always easy. Sometimes not even for themselves but for the ones they love. They are not alone.
Why Now?
We believe that there are a lack of resources available to houseless youth, victims of abuse, and children of drug addicted parents. Our film takes place in 1986, where the lack of resources are clearly present however, the most powerful thing that we hope individuals take away is that a lot of the same issues remain present today.
We believe children need to have access to resources, to transitional housing, to a therapist, to healthcare, etc. This story represents what often happens when individuals do not have access to those resources. There are many non-profit organizations who are doing great work to combat these core issues and who work tirelessly to provide resources. We want to help. We believe there is no other time than now to tell this story and to bring more attention to an issue that has been present in our society for much too long.

About This Team
Our team began with four students that were attending the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. Cole, Connor, Daniel, and Kaley enrolled in Warren Etheredge's Basic Screenwriting class where Follow You Home would be soon created. After completion of his course, he highly encouraged us to seriously consider making Cole's story into a reality. We began working on this project in the months right before the Pandemic caused the productiont to come to a hault
Etheredge was our professor just over a year ago and now he has now become our mentor and executive producer. We meet with him weekly, and are in constant email communication with him while he provides the necessary resources for us to succeed. As ambitious as it sounds, our intention with this film is to play on a National Stage. However, this production is not about any accolades, awards, or rewards that may come. This is a story that each and every individual on our team believes in. We believe this is a story that needs to be told, no matter the stage at which it is told.
We have all faced a form of hardship, loss, or various challenges in our life. Despite that, we continue to take strides towards our dreams, and aspirations while falling back on one another when things do not go as planned. This is a very tight-knit team. There is a whole lot of love and a whole lot of love to give. Join us in our journey, and our production. Come join the Follow You Home family!
