Mission Statement
More than ever, we believe in the unique and important ability of films to reflect the need for kindness, respect and civility in society. Our main character rejects this belief and pays a high price. The film shows there are consequences for our actions. We strive for diversity in crew and castAbout The Project
Enraged at being stuck behind an old, rusty pickup on a twisty, mountain highway while running late for an important family event, Bryce Stanford cuts off the pickup causing it to crash into an embankment and roll on its side. He briefly considers returning to help the driver, but chooses not to stop. Minutes later when Bryce gets a flat tire, the driver of the old pickup mysteriously appears and stops to help him. He wants to get Bryce where he needs to go. The encounter forces Bryce to question his life, decisions and the most important question of all: where is he really going?
Friday Afternoon is a short film we are creating based on the short story “Friday Afternoon” by T.D. Johnston, directed by Dan Healy (Finding Joshua). It's a suspense-filled thriller in the vein of The Sixth Sense and The Others with a great deal of Twilight Zone mixed in. Tim, the short story writer, and Dan are life-long fans of Rod Serling. Their script reveals his undeniable influence when the protagonist takes an unexpected road trip into the Twilight Zone, where its bizarre inhabitants are descendants of the ones in the master's unparalleled imagination.
Dan was looking for a contemporary story to adapt into a short film. He read hundreds of short stories before finding “Friday Afternoon.” He knew right away that this was a powerful story about life's choices and their consequences that needed to be brought to life as a movie.
If you are a fan of Rod Serling and The Twilight Zone, or would just like to see a revival of meaningful fiction that gives you pause and even makes you think, join us and help make this project a reality. We need your money and support. Our campaign must raise at least $15,000 in 30 days for us to make our film. Fun and unique incentives for contributions are available, including many following the Twilight Zone theme. Check them out. Any level of contribution, even one dollar, is greatly appreciated.
In addition, we need your support by following us. It's simple and free: just click on the FOLLOW button beside the video. This is extremely important because we must raise 1,000 followers during the campaign to become eligible for distribution of our film. Please share word of our project and the campaign at Seed & Spark with everyone you can since every person helps.
Lastly, if you haven't already, we encourage you to read the short story “Friday Afternoon” by T.D. Johnston. You can download it for $1 from Kindle on Amazon. It's a gripping tale that we we strongly believe you will want to see made into a film after reading the story.
Thank you.
