Story
Mission Statement
Many of our key positions are filled by talented and extraordinary women including four producers, the production designer, 1st A.D., wardrobe, and hair & make-up. They were sought out because they kick butt.About The Project
Time to slay the dragon and then to finish the laundry!
Heroes In Our Minds follows a gang of old friends into the fantasy world of their tabletop game play. In this fantasy world, they are a heroic knight, a deadly female assassin, and a stoic elf-wizard. However, in the real world, they are three eccentric gamers, Jacob, Patrick, and Mark.
Jacob's wife, Rachel, was excited to set up their new house together, but she feels slighted when the first thing he does is bring the boys over for a game. She tells him he needs to take things more seriously, but when he does he loses the quirks she loved.
In the film, Jacob and Rachel learn to take interest in what the other one is interested in. In any good relationship, if we can understand why someone enjoys something, then a deeper bond is created.
Gaming culture and the genres of fantasy and comedy are near and dear to most of us on this project. We look forward to playing around with all of the elements and doing them properly. From making a sweet D&D board to half-orc prosthetics to good jokes, we hope to make a thoroughly enjoyable film.
Furthermore, the characters in the film are paying homage to guys Scott, the writer/director, went to college with. He lived in and after graduating was the Resident Director of Campbell Hall. It was and is filled with vibrant, good looking nerds and dorks that played everything from D&D to table top Pokemon to Magic the Gathering to Double Dash to Smash Bros. May the Campbell Hall Organization of Defeating Evil bring their blessing upon the film. #WarioSucks

Key To Graduation:
This film is the graduate thesis film for both Scott McKinney (writer/director) and Andy Amores (Director of Photography). They are completing their Masters of Fine Art in Film and Television from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). About This Team
Our team is primarily made up of students from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Go Bees! Thank you for helping finish our education as we launch into the world to make our mark. Hopefully, they won't be the kind that skids. (Insert Sommer laughing)
Scott "McDizzle" McKinney: Director, Writer
As a filmmaker and as a beautiful man, Scott tries to find the humor in everything. He loves Pandas. He journeys through life with his ravishing wife Rebecca, his beautiful cat Bree, and his mighty hamster Mouse. This is his graduate thesis for the completion of his MFA in Film and Television from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Andy Amores: Director of Photography
Andrew Amores is a cinematographer currently based in Savannah, Georgia. With 8+ years of film and photography experience, Andrew Amores' keen eye for detail is an asset to any project. From a young age, his passion was the art of storytelling. Often times, he would gather his friends and create audio narratives of the DnD campaigns he would Dungeon Master.
Nikki Batts: Producer, Casting
Nikki fills her days with coffee, laughter, and Harry Potter puns. I mean siriusly, you can't go ron with either of those! Having already received her MA in Film and Television from the Savannah College of Art and Design, she is excited to join this team of wonderful people.
Sommer Tarabek: Producer
Avid video-gamer and role-playing enthusiast, Sommer fell in love with the script of Heroes In Our Minds. She has produced work of various mediums with a variety of genres but has never had the chance to collaborate on a film so closely tethered to her nerdy interests. Safe to say, she's stoked!
Paula Castro: Producer, Location Scout
Paula has produced different projects that range in diversity from video installations and experimental video to narratives. She is extremely interested in story telling, the visual media, and the power it holds to change people. She currently resides in Savannah, Georgia getting her MFA in Film and Television.
Steve Douglas: Editor
Steve Douglas is a Video Editor, Colorist, and Photographer with 6 years of experience working with a variety of clients and organizations. He currently resides in Savannah, Georgia after recently graduating from SCAD with a BFA in Film and Television
