Mission Statement

Our mission is to create the most original, absurdly comedic and thought provoking films to make the world a more livable place. By celebrating free thinking icons like Hunter S. Thompson, we hope to break the chains of mainstream filmmaking.

The Story

WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?

Hunter iS F**ked is a short film written & directed by Rick Mowat and produced by and starring Marty Grabstein, in the titular role. Both Rick and Marty lived through Hunter Thompson's prime years which were the 70s/80s and have been big fans ever since. They strongly believe that his style of writing (Gonzo journalism), seen for decades in the pages of Rolling Stone Magazine, and his road trip masterpiece Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, became a benchmark for creative journalistic writing up to the present day.

You have seen Hunter portrayed on the big screen before in movies like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Johnny Depp) and Where the Buffalos Roam (Bill Murray), but never before has Hunter been portrayed near the end of his life... until now! Marty is honored to play this wild and deeply troubled genius in this short film focusing on a fictional imagining of a true event in the last days of his life before its tragic end. Marty shares the screen with two powerful characters: the talented Megan Magee, and the breathtaking vistas of Lake George, NY.

WHY TELL THIS STORY NOW?

We're living in a bizarre time when everything is turned upside down, especially humor, which we feel has gotten lost in the shuffle. Though dark and deeply troubled, Hunter possessed an aggressively fearless and unapologetic appreciation of the absurdities of human existence. Alas, his brand of humor needs to be re-ignited in this crazy world - now more than ever.

THE GOAL

We are currently in the post production stages of Hunter iS F**cked. Funds will be allocated towards creating an original score by composer Jodie Gray of Courage fame, as well as audio design, sound mixing, color correction and titles. We will also be entering film festivals once the movie is completed... entry fees can be upward of $100 a pop. The more we raise, the more we we'll be able to distribute the film across all platforms.
