Mission Statement

At a time when so many of us are experiencing individual and collective trauma, the songs on 'Into the Light' have the power to connect on a deep level with anyone who has ever faced significant hardship. Although the songs are based on my own life experiences, they are truly universal.

The Story

THANK YOU to everyone who helped us crush our crowdfunding goal! We are over the moon excited and grateful to each and every person who contributed to help bring Into the Light to the world!

Stay tuned for an exciting announcement coming soon!

Hi, I'm Aliza Hava. I'm an award-winning singer/songwriter who has dedicated my life and career to creating music with a message of hope, resilience, and social change.

My music has been featured on the soundtrack of Sharon Stone's award-winning documentary, FEMME: Women Healing the World, and on a compilation alongside artists such as Ani DiFranco, Jackson Browne, and Amanda Palmer. My work as an international peacebuilder and former producer of International Peace Day global music concerts has been featured in the book, Talent for Humanity, which tells the stories of artists around the world who have committed their lives to making a difference through their art. Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to share the stage with many musical legends, including Dr. John, Richie Havens, Pete Seeger, and more.

I'm getting ready to release my third studio album, Into the Light, which features ten songs that take listeners on a profound, transformative journey from trauma to triumph. The songs are based on my personal experience of healing from severe physical, psychological, and emotional abuse I endured throughout my life from my family of origin.

As a young child, daily beatings and verbal assaults were the norm at home. My mother, who suffers from extreme mental illness, encouraged me regularly to take my own life. I was only about 5 years old the first time she told me to “do everyone a favor” and kill myself. I didn’t have many friends and was bullied incessantly at school by classmates as well as teachers. Year after year, my body was covered in bruises, yet I thought it was completely normal because it was all I had ever known.

At the age of 9, the school nurse called me to her office and said a student had reported seeing bruises on my legs in the locker room. She asked me where they’d come from and, matter of factly, I replied, “My mom hit me.”  I didn’t understand that moment would be a major turning point in my life.

I was removed from my home that very day and put into foster care, which I was in and out of until age 15. My foster parents were wonderful people and always encouraged me to be creative. I had a natural ability for singing and instinctively turned to songwriting as a way to process what I was going through, not knowing that it would eventually become the very thing that would save my life. At 18, I went to college and studied Music Therapy, which helped me gain a greater understanding of the healing power of music.

As a songwriter, I've always wanted my music to not only be a vehicle for artistic expression, but to have a deeper meaning that could also help others find more insight, purpose, and inspiration in their own lives. My upcoming album contains the most personal and meaningful songs I've ever written, and I'm truly excited and grateful for the opportunity to share these songs with you and the world.

Below is one of the first singles from the album, a song called When the Children Cry by the band White Lion, which I chose to cover because of its profound message and the personal impact it had on me as a child. When I heard this song for the first time, it resonated with me on such a deep level that I was inspired to start writing my own songs. It was the first song I ever learned to play on the piano, and the first song I ever sang onstage solo. It is the song that, ultimately, inspired me to become a musician.

Into the Light is a ten-song, professionally recorded album produced by a multi-platinum, Grammy-winning team in Thousand Oaks, CA. The album emerged from my struggles and my commitment to healing myself while breaking a familial cycle of generational trauma born out of the ashes of WWII.

Each song on the album is unique and explores the various stages of the healing process I went through to grow and become the person and artist I am today. A dear friend of mine even pointed out that listening to the album as a whole is like going on a hero’s journey.

Although the themes are based on my own experiences, the songs are relatable to anyone who has endured hardship and are not exclusive to those who have experienced abuse. I do, however, intend to raise awareness about the dangerous impacts child abuse and domestic violence have on society by speaking and singing from lived experience. These issues include but are not limited to, social isolation, substance abuse, homelessness, and mental illness.

As a universal language, music is one of the most timeless and powerful forms of communication and healing. At a time when so many of us are experiencing individual and collective trauma, these songs have the power to connect on a deep level with a diverse audience. I believe music is medicine, which is why I'm asking for your support to help bring this album to the world.

To bring this album to the world, your support is vital. As an independent artist, I'm responsible for overseeing all of the marketing, in addition to getting out on the road and performing live. It is a monumental task, and hiring the right team is invaluable. Thankfully, the album is already complete and ready to go. I'm running this Seed & Spark campaign to make music videos, market the release through PR (public relations), radio, and social media campaigns, and to print vinyl. The budget listed below is the absolute minimum it will require to make this baby fly. Any additional funds raised past my goal will augment these efforts and be put towards touring nationally and internationally.

If (and when) I reach my campaign goal, I'll launch some stretch goals for the book I've been writing as a companion to the album, as well as a podcast exploring each song's theme. In addition, I've been encouraged by my producers to turn the album into a rock opera, but for now am taking one step at a time. If you're interested in learning more about how you can support the development of the book, podcast, or rock opera, please email me at [email protected].

There are gift (aka perk or incentive) levels for everyone! Please see the sidebar for more details. If you're on a mobile phone, scroll to the top of this page and click the Incentives tab under the video.

You may be wondering why I've decided not to print CDs. Most people nowadays don't own a CD player, but if you contribute at the $50 level and up and would like a CD, get in touch and I'll make it happen. I'll be printing a limited edition run for radio promotion, so will be sure to get one into your hands at your request.

*Please note: Contributions to Seed & Spark campaigns are non tax-deductible. If you'd like to contribute at the Executive Producer & Associate Producer levels and are interested in a tax-deduction, please email me at [email protected].

I AM TRULY GRATEFUL to everyone contributing to this campaign, especially those of you who have followed and supported my work over the years. It has been a long road, and I would not be here without the love and encouragement of those who value my voice and my message. You have kept my art alive and my heart open. From the depths of my soul, thank you for supporting my journey. This is just the beginning.  ✨❤️✨
