We want to give the next generation a film that reflects female friendships in all their beautiful and confusing complexities. Taking notes from Lynn Shelton and Greta Gerwig, we will be shooting this film mumblecore-style to showcase our authentic, vulnerable relationships. Time to laugh and cry!

Mission Statement

Juniper is about women learning to be unapologetically themselves, no matter the consequences. This film is for the female relationships that have influenced who we are today. Juniper will show all the nuances and layers of friendship: the good, the bad, and the oh-so beautifully ugly.

The Story

Mack retreats to her family's cabin after the tragic death of her sister, Natalie.

Unannounced, her childhood best friend, Alex, shows up to console her. Resentment and old memories flood the isolated house, as they grapple with their childhood selves versus who they've grown up to be. It doesn't help that Alex brought with her Dylan, Alex's new best friend.

Good thing they have alcohol...

As I was approaching young womanhood, my mother told me that female friendships matter most. This terrified me, but left a lasting impression. I didn’t feel as though I was good at female friendships. I grew up with an older sister, an automatic best friend and confidant, which led me to feel as though I didn’t really need close friends - I was born with one. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that I do love my female friendships most, but the interweaving of these relationships are utterly layered and complicated. Women are intricate creatures, and this longing for connection has left me with sustained melancholy.

-Olivia Blue (Actor, Writer, Producer)

Female friendships have always been the most influential aspect of my life. They've encouraged me to push my boundaries, believed in me to succeed when I thought it would be impossible, and opened my eyes to new ways of thinking.  I've learned that my friendships are the true compass of my life. I want to create Juniper in honor of the women that are each a piece of who I am today.
