Roughly 140 females are killed daily by someone in their own family, making the home the most dangerous place for women. What do you do when you see this happening to someone you love? Try to get them out and risk being pushed away or wait and hope they'll break themselves free before it’s too late?

Mission Statement

The story of domestic abuse survivorship through the lens of a sister desperately trying to help her sibling out of a dangerous relationship before it’s too late. A look into the invisible toll a tumultuous relationship takes on not just the victim, but the surrounding people affected by proximity.

The Story

👀WHAT YOU’LL SEE

This short film shines a blinding spotlight on the invisible toll a tumultuous relationship takes on not just the victim, but the surrounding relationships that are affected by proximity.

🩷WHAT YOU’LL FEEL

As a bystander to cataclysmic love, the fear becomes all-consuming. Every day is met with the dread of all rescue efforts failing, the frustration of losing her to the slow poison of wrought devotion, the torture of waiting on standby for when the call comes in and if it will be THE call that comes in.

🍿WHAT YOU’LL WATCH

We begin the story with Alex, a woman as tough as her boxing bag, meeting her sweet sister’s new boyfriend. Marissa and Josh are loved up in a porcelain glow, until the cracks begin to form. At first, it’s a stray “shut up,” then it’s a suspicious bruise, and eventually nothing but bleak, empty absence. Alex struggles to make sense of the sister that basically raised her crumbling into a brittle shell of a human and claiming she’s never been happier or more in love.

Alex tries everything – from confrontation, to negotiation and absolution. Nothing is working. She paces the house, she lies awake memorising the ceiling, she let’s every thought pass except those of her estranged sister.

We feel as helpless as Alex does when all she can do it wait for the fateful call to come in.

💰WHAT YOU’LL BE PAYING FOR

Filmmaking is expensive. And while we have an eager team that believes deeply in the project ready to jump in and get it made, it’s unreasonable to expect them to work without pay. These funds will cover the 5-day shoot including services, equipment hire, insurance, crafty/lunch etc. We plan to have production wrapped and editing complete by August 2027. The soundtrack is already being recorded (see Love Letter video below), lines are being learned, storyboarding is underway. This is the same time who shot Circumstantial over 3-days earlier this year, and the story touched the hearts of everyone on that shoot, so we’re reuniting to do it all again because we share the same belief in the need for this story.

Transparently, I myself take no proceeds from this project, my compensation is reaching an audience whose lives I aim to touch or change. This story is deeply personal to me and I hope to raise awareness and spark a meaningful conversation geared toward change.

Circumstantial, (the first instalment of this three-part anthology currently in post-production) was a self-funded passion project that lit the fuse of a bigger mission and I invite you on this journey with me to create something heart-wrenchingly beautiful together.

💐A NOTE FROM ME

There's no real way I could ever truly thank those who know exactly what this feels like, but I hope this comes close. Dedicated to my sister, who is an unsung hero in all of this.

About This Team

This incredible group of artists came together to help shoot my debut short film, Circumstantial, late last year and the outcome was like nothing I could have ever anticipated. The set was a magical bubble of laughs, tears and unwavering trust. By the time we wrapped, we were ready to jump in and do it all over again.
