Mission Statement
Just as pregnancy has the opportunity to bring people together, so does filmmaking. We are using this project to unite a diverse, international, gender-balanced team of artists on both sides of the camera who believe in women taking charge of their own stories. We begin production on our short film mid-March 2019 in Vilnius, Lithuania. This campaign will enable us to produce a polished film that we are proud to submit to some of the best festivals in the world.
Have you ever delivered sensitive news? If fatherhood is as sensitive as motherhood, which I imagine it to be, Fiona, our main character, absolutely must deliver it in person.
This tender-hearted story begins immediately after Fiona lands (for the first time!) in a foreign country. She doesn't know the language and she's just spent her last penny on plane tickets and a private investigator to pinpoint the father of her child. Though she has a list of three addresses, things don't go according to plan.
Will she find him?
I am pregnant with my first child, and as exciting as it is, there's also a lot of uncertainty that comes with it that nobody seems to talk about. Many of my conversations with others tend to feel surface-level or simply congratulatory.
With this film, I want to expose the uncertainty that pregnant women can feel with their first child by portraying a woman who deals with it in a very raw, direct way. Our main character finds inner strength during a time when the world deems her the most fragile. She sets an ambitious goal by taking charge of the one thing she is certain about: the identity of the father.
Lithuania: a country in the Baltic region of Europe with a long, tumultuous history dating back thousands of years. The combination of its lush landscape, old world charm, brutalist architecture, and spirituality make this relatively demure little country more of a character in our eyes instead of simply a backdrop to our film. We look forward to exploring both the cities and lowlands of this small but proud republic.

About This Team
Ana Mackenzie is an actor and filmmaker. Within an hour of her high school graduation, Midwest native Ana Mackenzie learned she landed a supporting role in the feature film Meet Bill. She took the leap, moved to Los Angeles, and immediately began booking roles on television series, including ABC Family's The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Most recently, Ana also be seen in the upcoming Netflix series, Dolly Parton's Heartstrings.
James Mackenzie is an alumnus of the liberal arts program at the University of Dallas and of Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television. His MFA thesis short, Audrey Makes a Mixtape, was recognized on the US BAFTA Student Awards shortlist, and as a member of Film Independent's Incubator Lab, he helmed his award-winning first feature, American Zealot. He currently teaches film & digital media at the University of North Georgia.
Irma Pužauskaitė: After working in film finance for Media and the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture, she decided to dive into the creative side of film and was fortunate enough to receive numerous scholarships to attend LMU's MFA Film Production program. She received the Faculty Award for her thesis short film, The Morning After. She is alumnus of the Incubator Lab at Film Independent and EKRAN at Waida School. In 2016 Irma established educational group called Directors Lab for directors and together with professional actors started Vilnius Actors Studio (based on Actors Studio in NY) where actors are trained in method acting and Meisner technique.
Joey Kopanski is a cinematographer based in Atlanta, GA. His work has been screened at numerous festivals around the US and was awarded Best Cinematography at the Milledgeville Film Festival for his work on The Thieves of Almira. He dreams of traveling the world, capturing stories along the way.
