Mission Statement
We've been on a two-year journey to get our film onto the BIG screen. We’ve captured something truly special—a heartfelt story about a young person searching for their place in a city far away from home. We’re finding humor in the meandering path we take to find out who we really are.About The Project
With the generous support of our friends and family, we completed principal photography on our feature film in December 2021. From our contributions, we were able to recruit a talented cast and crew. We then shot for fourteen days in and around Los Angeles. We dealt with everything from COVID scares and rain delays to the prop car (Mike’s actual vehicle) breaking down.
Don’t worry we all came out in one piece.
While filming, we even met one of our idols, Mark Duplass. It was an unforgettable pep talk (see below).
We’ve spent the last year editing—working around our full-time jobs—and we’ve put together a finished cut of the film. Now, with the movie nearing completion, we’re securing the finishing funds to complete post-production and get this puppy done. We couldn’t be more excited!
Our story is about Zach, a twenty-five-year-old slacker, crashing on his friend’s couch after a recent breakup. With no real job prospects and his funds running low, Zach is on the verge of packing up and leaving Los Angeles for good. His last hope for staying lies in picking up his ex-girlfriend from the airport, which he thinks could rekindle their relationship. The morning of her arrival, Zach’s plan implodes, and his life is thrown into further chaos when his car, filled with everything he owns, is stolen.
Determined to find his car, Zach searches around the city. Along the way, he interacts with a cast of friends and oddball strangers, including a bumbling cop preoccupied with small talk, an Uber driver obsessed with patron saints, and an old high school friend returning from overseas. Throughout his journey, Zach contemplates fate, happiness, and love while coming to terms with his relationships and embracing adulthood.
The cast was made up of friends old and new. Some came from our time at Syracuse while others we connected with in Los Angeles. They’ve been in everything from low-budget indies (*wink) to Amazon commercials and Marvel movies.
We assembled our first rough cut—a loose edit of all the scenes in the film—in March 2022. We then put together a more polished cut of the movie, which we then showed to other filmmakers for feedback. Using these notes, we streamlined the story and then shot additional footage to strengthen the narrative in September 2022.
Having spent months fine-tuning the project, we completed the picture-locked edit in November. Next up, we began collaborating with our composer Matt Kerr on the score. He is a true musical wiz. We then started shaping the look of the film with our DP Logan Regnier and colorist Connor Burns. With all other aspects of post underway, we handed off the film for sound mixing and design. We also sent shots away for visual effects work.
So what happens when the film is finished? Great question! First, we’ll be submitting to festivals and taking Month to Month on the road to theaters across the country. We’ll be looking to secure distribution and help our film reach as large an audience as possible.
Outside of this, we plan to set up private screenings on both coasts to celebrate with our cast, crew, and all the supporters who have helped make this film a reality.
With editing for the film complete, it’s time to bring in the experienced pros. It takes a village to make a film, and we have a talented group of artists, including colorists, sound designers, composers, and visual effect wizards (seriously we sometimes are baffled by what can get done in VFX) to help us get over the finish line. While we have limited our costs, these services require funding to be done well.
This is where we need your help. If you’re able to contribute, we have a whole slew of unique perks and giveaways including stickers, posters, and invites to screenings!
If you'd like to support us but can't do so monetarily, that's okay! Here's what you can do instead:
1). "Follow" and "Share" our social media posts on Instagram and Facebook. Who knows, maybe someone you know can contribute!
2.) Follow this campaign on Seed&Spark! By doing so, we'll keep you updated via e-mail on our upcoming festival run, future screenings, and distribution!
We designed this crowdfunding goal carefully to get us through post-production, but raising more will help us get the film to a wider audience.
With additional funds, we’ll be able to submit the film to more festivals and set up additional screenings in cities where we have supporters.
We’ve spent the last two years of our lives pulling this project together. It would not have been possible without the time, energy, and encouragement of so many people. We’re deeply grateful, and we can’t wait to share our film with all of you!
