Mission Statement
The Story
Omissions follows a revolving cast of characters at different stages of adulthood through a series of interconnected stories which aim to convey the drama in everyday life. Through deeply personal moments in the day-to-day lives of its characters, Omissions offers a subtle view of human behavior, the constructs that bind us, and the truth that belies action. Through a creatively structured timeline and a variety of distinct and unique visual styles, Omissions brings to life the honesty, vulnerability, and complexities of its characters.
This non-linear collection of stories intertwines three groups of characters in separate locations and at differing stages of adulthood, each at odds with distinct interpersonal dramas. Their struggles mirror each other but they never cross paths, rather they stay isolated in the containers of their own worlds.
In the Hudson Valley Region, we captured the story of
estranged brothers John and Christopher as they navigate
their own rocky relationship while tending to their ailing Mother.
In Boston, we captured the story of young college student David
as he navigates his emerging independence and searches
for a place in his newfound world.
In Brooklyn, we will capture the story of the mid-20s Melissa as
she contemplates a lack of purpose in her post-college life and confronts
a confounding sense of alienation in a city that is home to over 8 million people.
In addition to the principal cast, the film will intersperse moments from the lives of other characters such as Little Boy In Striped Shirt, Drunk Asshole, Pigeons, Rob, and others.
Omissions was written by writer/director Jordan Lisi at the end of 2022 and was based on a series of short stories he previously wrote. The script represents the culmination of an associative audiovisual style he has been refining since 2016. The script was developed and finalized in early 2023 during Lisi's artist residency at Woodward Residency in New York City. Since then, a group of extremely talented creatives have come together to actualize Lisi's vision. This is his most ambitious project and his biggest creative risk to date.
We are so excited to share this film with you and we thank you deeply for any support you can offer. Whatever contribution you can make will have a significant impact on our indie budget. Please also consider sharing this with your friends and family to help further our momentum.
As we near the halfway point of our production process, please join us in making this powerful film come to life.
