Possessive's Story
Possessive tells the story of David, a priest reeling from a recent tragedy, who is sent to check on a member of his church, Doctor Gordon, who has been absent as of recent. But upon arriving at Gordon’s cabin, David finds a girl locked in a room and a frantic Dr. Gordon who claims the girl has been possessed by the Devil. From there, things continue to descend into madness, putting David at the forefront of a dangerous battle of good versus evil, where he doesn't know who he can believe.
The Team
Possessive is a senior capstone project being made at the Sidney Poitier New American Film School at Arizona State University by a group of young but skilled filmmakers, looking to put themselves to the test by creating something special and exciting on a larger scale than before! We are a group that has collaborated and grown together over the past four years, and are excited to bring our dream to life with this film! Every person involved has a different set of talents and skills and we can't wait for our chance to share them to the world with your help!
The Goal
Possessive is a different take on the exorcism story which will keep viewers on the edge of their seats, frightened, wondering what will happen next. It also is a story of courage, struggling with faith, and doing the right thing. Most of all, it is a thrilling yet meaningful story that we hope everyone can find something to resonate with, whether that be the protagonist David's arc of growth and self-reflection, or the dark and exhilarating horror elements of the film.
The Passion
Your help will not only bring this thrilling film to life, but it will also support a group of young and upcoming filmmakers do what they are passionate about, all while creating a product that you can watch and enjoy! This is our team's chance to show our talents to the world and we humbly ask for your help. This is the biggest opportunity we’ve had to do something on this scale! Above all though, we are doing this because it is our passion, our dream and what all of us love to do. Your support means the world to us!
The Logistics
Our project will begin filming this October. We are currently in the depths of pre-production, finalizing the script, designing storyboards and shot lists, building our crew and locations, and preparing as much as possible so we can bring this exciting film to life! Once we finish filming and editing the film, we will showcase at our senior capstone showcase in the spring, then submit it to festivals to share our work with the world! The funds we raise will contribute to transportation, lodging and locations for our overnight shoot, food and other necessities to support our hard-working crew, the equipment we need to rent, and production design and special effect elements to bring the visual experience to life. If we surpass 100% of our goal those excess funds will be dedicated to bringing more crew on board, even better equipment and production design materials, covering costs of film festival submission, and making the film bigger in general! Any support helps immensely, even if it is just sharing this page with friends and family or on social media! We hope that you will see how much we love what we do and see what we can accomplish through it!
