The Story
Before reading any further, watch our pilot HERE . We made it just for you!
The year was 2016. Alex Pires had recently moved to the NYC area. In fact he sat in his Jersey City apartment watching sitcom after sitcom, without a laugh to be heard. Was he broken? Did he lack a sense of humor? Was he going to be stuck like this FOREVER?! "Not today!" thought Alex as he rose from his un-made bed and stepped over to his desk. It was there that Alex Pires decided he was going to create a comedy that was all encompassing: Over-the-top and down-to-earth, original and parodying, serious and silly! The comedy that would save laughless boys and girls from around the world. The greatest sitcom EVER MADE.
Ok so maybe that's a liiiiitttle over dramatic. The truth is, Alex decided to write a series made up of the type of comedy that he himself enjoyed. He wrote a few episodes with the help of some friends but had trouble getting it off the ground. It was in 2018 that he met Stephanie Windland in an acting class and thought "That girl is a mess like me. She's perfect". And thus P's in a Pod was born!
(A picture of us in acting class. We weren't kidding about the mess)
We believe that the best comedy derives from the truth, and in today's world, we are in dire need of some truth telling. However, we are also in need of a good laugh. With our show, we want to start conversations about important subject matters, but we want to laugh while doing it. The perfect response to our show would be "Wow I think about this all the time, I've just never said it out loud". Life's hard and also hilarious. Both are important!
As humans, we're always searching for people and situations to relate with. We want to make your search easier. By bringing on different directors each episode, and gathering a cast and crew of various backgrounds, we want to create relatable content for all types of people. There are so many stories and perspectives that need to be heard and we're here to give them to you.
We shot the pilot completely out of pocket, so if you liked that, imagine what we could do with a real budget. We're determined to bring you a series with quality and content. By joining us on this journey you're not only gifting yourselves a full season of Pete and Polly's shenanigans, but you're helping out a team of independent artists make their dreams a reality.
Your support is the best currency out there. However, it won't help feed our cast and crew. By raising $15,000, we'll be able to pay our incredible crew, to provide quality footage and sound, and an editor to bring it all together. We'll also be able to pay for shooting locations (so you're not getting an entire series that takes place in a living room), festival submissions so that our series can be seen by some pretty big people, and of course food for our cast and crew. So you can help us by pledging as much as you're willing and able to and by sharing the campaign on social media as well as with your family and friends. We're excited to have you join us on this journey and we guarantee you a funny and relatable show in return.
Love your new best friends,
Pete and Polly
