Story
About The Project
Pussy Willows is an experimental phantasmagoria of despair and elation. It is a fast-paced, surreal exploration of the ways in which we combat anxiety and depression.The story follows Mia, a morose teenager with a passion for vaudeville and the only black girl in her oppressively strict Catholic high school. After her father’s death, she must simultaneously care for her manic, suicidal mother and a robotic baby doll assigned to her as part of a home economics class. The stress of these tasks combined with her own emotional instability ultimately explode in an evening of alcohol, rage, and catharsis.Stylistically, this project is inspired by filmmakers Alejandro Jodorowsky,Věra Chytilová, and Masaaki Yuasa.Pussy Willows was originally conceived to be Tommy Regan’s junior film, but the administrators at Dodge College rejected the screenplay due its potential production difficulties (a large number of extras, numerous locations, risky visual effects, etc.), its experimental nature, and its supposed lack commercial viability. This past year, Tommy again submitted an expanded version of the same screenplay to the senior thesis committee, and again it was rejected. Throughout this process, Tommy and his team still believed in Pussy Willows. Finally, through perserverence and stubborness, the Pussy Willows team convinced Dodge that they are willing and able to take on the artistic risks and challenges of this production. Now that we have the green light from our college, we need help from YOU to finally make this dream a reality!Incentives

About This Team
Tommy Regan (Director/Writer) : Tommy is a senior at Dodge College of Film and Media Arts majoring in Film Production with an emphasis in Directing. Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, he developed a love for filmmaking at a young age. He hopes Pussy Willows will transcend the conventions and expectations of a student film.
Chris Tcholakian (Producer) : Chris is a senior Creative Producing major at Dodge from New York City. He and Tommy were paired as roommates freshman year and have been collaborating ever since. Chris was attracted to this project because he believes it has the potential to be bizarre and beautiful.
Nate Mulroy (Unit Production Manager) : Nate is a senior Film Production and Graphic Design student from Idaho. He has worked with much of the Pussy Willows crew on past projects—films ranging from comedic to surreal to generally disconcerting.
Adam Hahn (Director of Photography) : Adam is a senior Cinematography student from Maryland. He has acted as Director of Photography on numerous short films and music videos, and seeks to refine his aesthetic further with Pussy Willows.
Pavin Browne (Production Designer) : Pavin is a senior Sociology major from Seattle with a propensity for production design. He’s just hanging out for right now.
Antone Saliba (1st Assistant Director) : Antone is a senior Creative Producing student from Jordan who has collaborated with the Pussy Willows crew on multiple occasions since his freshman year. He understands the immense production challenges of this piece and will savor the opportunity to grow professionaly.
Hannah Spellman (Editor) : Hannah is a senior Sound Design major from Massachusetts who is also adept at editing. She edited Tommy’s previous film. The two have established a successful creative rapport and trust each other's artistic sensibilites.
Tasha Jocz (Sound Designer) : Though Tasha is a senior Editing major, she is also highly skilled with sound design. Originally from Oregon, she has a lengthy resumé of sound designer credits, but she chose to work on Pussy Willows specifically for the singular creative challenges it presents.
