QUEUE is a science-fiction short film about Artificial Intelligence and how our relationship to it shows more about Ourselves than we would think. By experiencing a suspenseful snapshot of this world, we explore the question of how we can define our own identities.

Mission Statement
This film is a personal story for me, and a chance to interpret the sci-fi genre through my own voice. Queue is a film about Identity, and by sharing this story, we hope to connect with anyone searching for who they are and what they want to be.About The Project
Welcome to Naxon, Astrotech Solutions, where we like to say the Future is looking Up. As we prepare for our most ambitious shuttle mission yet, we have something very exciting we want to share with you. A new advancement, on the cutting edge of Artificial Intelligence, the greatest supercomputer ever created - our mission's captain. We call him Queue.
-- -- --
We are sorry to inform that the Initiative space shuttle's mission to Mars has been indefinitely delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. The shuttle crew will continue their training until the next mission schedule can be proposed by the mission control and approved by the headquarters. We applaud the team of engineers and programmers who work tirelessly to upgrade the overall quality of the mission even during difficult times.
QUEUE is a science-fiction short film that explores the question of how we can define our own identities. By reflecting the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence back onto our own human experiences, we hope to connect with anyone searching for that ultimate human enigma - who they are and what they want to be.
This film is a personal story for me as a Georgia-native woman filmmaker - it’s very much a love letter to Artificial Intelligence sci-fi - films like Space Odyssey, Blade Runner, and Ex Machina - but it’s also a chance to interpret the genre through my own personal voice and my own journey of self-exploration. At its core, Queue is a film about Identity, and by sharing this story, we hope to connect with everyone searching for who they are and what they want to be.
In the film, we follow our protagonist Diana, a self-alienated woman who has been suffering from nightmares because she has lost sense of who and what she’s supposed to be. Diana needs the answer to this existential question, and there’s only one person - or computer - she believes can give it to her: Meet Queue, Naxon's resident AI Supercomputer, trapped and bored working for his current company but intrigued when Diana arrives to shake things up. And Diana will do just about anything - even kill - to get to Queue.
By the time you’re reading this, we’ve wrapped principal photography - But we need YOUR HELP to get to the finish line! To help “QUEUE” reach its fully-realized potential, we need support for Post Production and Film Festival Submissions, as well as helping to reimburse production costs that are paid fully out of our film-student pockets.
In the male-dominated film industry, women's voices have been kept within specific genres such as romance, fantasy, and reality. High-concept genres such as science fiction have not successfully included women in key roles both in front of and behind the camera. Even when there is a woman present in a sci-fi story, she often is severely objectified or sidelined as a background. The creative team for Queue short film seeks to challenge this deep-seated convention and put women forth in both storytelling and filmmaking.
Our talented team for Queue are majority women with intersectional identities, and many of us are MFA film students. We all have a deep passion for collaborative filmmaking and are eager to tell exciting stories with unique voices.
“QUEUE” began in pre-production this past Spring, with casting, rehearsals, set design and special FX tests continuing through until principal photography in July:
Picture Production July 15 - 17
Rough Cut July 28
Picture Lock Aug 19
Final Cut Sept 10
Recoup Production Expenses - $600
- This will reimburse production costs like meals for our cast and crew, set design, and travel.
Post-Production Fees - $400- This will fund editing, color grading, sound design, and music composition for the film.
Distribution and Festival Fees- This will help get our film out to the festival circuit and up onto screens!
