Red, a once famous clown, lost his 6-year old son 2 years ago. He continues to blame himself for the loss. He is currently a small-time party clown, but the majority of the time he is too bitter and intoxicated to be effective.

Mission Statement
In the short film Red, we explore the pain of loss and the resistance of letting go. Having a cast and crew that is diverse in race, sexuality, gender identification, religion, and age gives us a unique perspective in the telling this of story.About The Project
Greetings from the team! We are pleased to bring you Red! This film is written by our director Frances coming from her experiences as a child encountering clowns and being afraid of them. We hope you'll be able to see the humanity in Red and come to an understanding of him. Clowns are generally depicted in fiction as scary or one dimensional. We hope we can shine a light on the life of one clown and his journey!
"Letting go is the easy part. It's the moving on that's painful. So sometimes we fight it, trying to keep things the same. Things can't stay the same though. At some point you just have to let go, move on. Because no matter how painful it is, it's the only way we grow."
-Meredith Grey
"Sometimes holding on causes more pain than letting go"
-Unknown
"The clown may be the source of mirth, but - who shall make the clown laugh?"
-Angela Carter
RED, a once-famous TV clown, is now a small time party clown – A demotion in his mind. Each day he wakes up to his life, the one where his son is dead, his wife wants a divorce and bills are piling up. He moves forward everyday putting on his best face, literally and figuratively. He is bitter and he projects his unhappiness onto his customers, making him very ineffective at his job. Never really wanting to deal with the death of his son, he drinks and creates chaos to dampen his pain.
BOY IN ALLEY/THOMAS - The only child that has gotten Red to respond to him in a positive way. Very persistent. Has a special relationship with Red.
RED'S EX-WIFE needs him to sign the divorce papers she sent him 10 months ago. She believes if she can distance herself from Red, she won’t be reminded of her son.
RED'S AGENT wants him to get it together. He needs his money train to get back on track.
BIRTHDAY GIRL - Unimpressed by Red’s performance at her birthday party. She punishes him for his indolence.
BIRTHDAY BOY - Privileged. Demanding. Red is ruining his birthday party and his reputation.MOM - Lets Red into her house for her son's birthday party. Smells booze on Red as he walks by. She can't believe what her nose is telling her. Has concerns about Red, but can't disappoint her son.
DAD - Lets Red into his house for his daughter's birthday party. Has concerns about Red, but allows himself to be convinced otherwise.
STRETCH GOAL!
If we raise more than our proposed goal of $5,500, we have a strech goal of $7,500. This is so we can reimburse our Alexa Mini camera package rental for camera department as well as miscellaneous expenses for production and post-production. Please feel free to keep contributing after we hit our goal!
