Story
Mission Statement
We are inspired by practices of collective arts-making and community building and seek to create an actively inclusive collaborative that produces bold and original work by women and People of Color. Help us to create a new model for equitable and imaginative filmmaking!About The Project
The Sac Chich Project is a creative experiment in collaborative filmmaking. A generous donor has granted us housing at a visually stunning location on the Yucatán Peninsula. It is a filmmaker's paradise-not only the house but also the nearby crystal clear cenotes, thick jungles, colorful cement pueblos, Spanish churches and zocalos and a jean factory surrounded by blue stones from their perpetual aid in the wash cycle.
(This is Casa Vieja's pool; note the shadows we'll be incoorporating into the films' visuals)
This project is about upending the idea that filmmaking needs to be structured around individual and isolated experiences with an always-new set of collaborators. Why not pool together talent and resources in order to create many projects-developing momentum and a creative shorthand as we go? This project is ambitious and, we think, novel. Our hope is that each film will be able to stand alone but that if viewed collectively they will reflect the vibrant circumstances which brought them into the world.
(This is the Loggia where Dodge Is Dead's long takes will be carefully choreographed)
Please check out the TEAM TAB to see individual biographies from each of the collaborators working with us! We are a young, driven team of emerging filmmakers that come from a range of artistic and personal backgrounds but are unified in our desire to make original and captivating cinema. The pandemic had each of us narrowing our social and creative spheres and this project is an effort to gather, once again, in community to make new artistic connections in shared spaces. We believe in teamwork, in scrappiness, in a rejection of the stay-in-your-lane-and-wait-till-someone-else-greenlights-your-project ethos that all-too-frequently is the unquestioned status quo.

STRETCH GOALS
Our $20,000 goal is the bare minimum needed to get the film made at a production quality everyone involved can be proud of and avoid exploiting the work of all production members.
If we raise $25,000, we'll be able to have contingency funds in place should anything go wrong, as well as cover our post-production costs.
If we raise $30,000, we'll be able to cover our festival, distribtion and promotional costs for completing and getting the film into the world and in front of a wider audience.
If we raise $40,000, we'll be able to pay our producers, directors and actors (who are currently sacrificing pay for their work out of passion for the project and its message). And we'll be able to offer our team more respectable day rates, as they are all working in the favor-range, though also out of passion for the unique collaboration possible with the project.
Thank you for being part of this campaign and joining us in the making of this film!Incentives

About This Team
Executive Producers: Madeleine and José
With multi-hyphenate-style, MADELEINE JOYCE, has been learning and rocking in the performance arts since she was seven years old. Does she live to entertain you, or do you live to get entertained by her? She is inspired by the possibility of connection and likes to make art that explores the nuances of love and the ways to exorcise the condition of stuckness. As a theater-maker, a few of her credits include Clown-Producer of The BOOF (NYC's only Bouffon Troupe), Writer-Director-Actor-Clown-Producer of Unfinished Bedtime Clown Show, the title role in Eurydice in Sarah Ruhl's play, Actor-Collaborator of the LIDA Project's Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, Founder-Actor-Tour Producer of No Fog West's The Laramie Project, and many more... Her transition to filmmaking came in 2017 when she Produced-Wrote-Starred-Edited a poetic roadtrip homage to Italo Calvino's "Distance of the Moon" and learned to be humble and admit when you don't know things. She does not know the future, but with gusto she's bringing her energetic positivity to learning about it.
JOSÉ ESPINOSA is a Cuban-Jewish actor, writer and (now!) filmmaker. He grew up playing baseball, reading books and avoiding homework before finding his way to Amherst College where he played shortstop and majored in English and Religion. He is a graduate of the Acting program at Yale School of Drama where he appeared in The Seagull, The Tempest and a pair of madcap new plays by Jeremy O. Harris, among others. Since the pandemic he has recommitted to being a jock and taken up surfing, tennis, rock climbing and skateboarding.

The film was honored at the 57th New York Film Festival and acknowledged at the Maryland Film Festival. Aside from her expertise as a Cinematographer, Rikki has an extensive background in lighting, sound, and electronic music. In her spare time, Rikki is an avid rock climber. She has combined both of her passions when asked to shoot videos for outdoor rock climbing events. Her other pastimes are drawing and graphic design. Rikki’s latest interest is developing a green thumb!
JADZIA V. ERSKINE is a New York City based cinematographer who graduated from the Barry R. Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema with her MFA in 2019.
