The concept of continuously being monitored for how you voice your opinions and being scored on it, therefore leading to limitations in your day-to-day is a shocking idea. SYNOPSIS
What if everything you said or did, the government scored you on?
If the government gave you a score, right now, based on your daily behavior, religious and political viewpoints, social outings, hobbies, etc, do you think it would be good?
What if that score was wrecking your life?
That’s what is happening to our main character, Emily.
Inspired by the Social Credit Score in China:
“China’s social credit system is a combination of government and business surveillance that gives citizens a “score” that can restrict the ability of individuals to take actions — such as purchasing plane tickets, acquiring property or taking loans — because of behaviors.” -The Hill
In the near future, what would the Social Credit Score system look like in the US?
Score Pending seeks to explore one of the potential realities of this system through our main character, Emily.
Why this story?
This story is SO alive. It's scary how real this can become. One of my missions as a filmmaker is to chase down stories that spark conversations about the world we live in. And if you haven't already gotten a little uneasy ready about this story's potential, you will cringe as you watch it onscreen.
Why now?
The movement of high surveillance across the world will only plunge deeper and deeper as technology advances. This story ignites the fuel to talk about what constant surveillance might look like for us in the not-so-distant future.

Carlee Soeder
Director | WriterHey there! I’m an actress, director, and writer. This will be my third short film! I’ve previously made Check-Six, a short that made it into a couple of festivals, and have a new short, Winter’s Year, which will be hitting festivals this year!
I originally hailed from Miami, FL, and moved up to Atlanta, The Hollywood of The South, to pursue my filmmaking career. Everyone who is a part of Score Pending…, is truly dedicated to making impactful art that sparks meaningful conversation among our audiences.
Denisse Beldin
Executive ProducerBorn and raised in Atlanta, Denisse is an actor and director. Her acting credits include projects on Netflix, Lifetime, and local commercials. Denisse also works full-time in production payroll; her most recent project being a reboot of a popular horror franchise. Outside of acting and film, Denisse is a huge music lover and can be found frequenting local music venues. Score Pending’ marks her first producer and script supervisor credits.
Brittany Cardoza
Director of PhotographyBrittany Cardoza was born and raised in San Jose, CA and studied Social Psychology and Theater at Ohio State University before moving to Atlanta to explore the film industry. Brittany found her home in the Camera Department in 2021 and has since enjoyed the opportunity to learn from many incredible filmmakers.
Where We Are:
Currently, we are deep in pre-production for Score Pending! We have finalized our script, assembled our crew, cast the film, locked down locations, and begun production design.
Our next steps are:
Renting gear for camera, lighting, and sound.
Rehearsals with the cast.
Purchasing production design elements such as set dressing, costumes, and props.
All before we get to begin filming!
Your pledge will support us through the remainder of prep into the end of production for Score Pending. If we exceed our funding goal (our soft goal, as our larger goal is $6000+), we will be able to speed up the post-production process and hopefully get the film to you sooner! It'll also allow us to submit to more festivals and allow more people to experience it.
After we wrap up filming, we plan to go directly into post-production. Our goal is to be finished with the edit and submitting to festivals in the latter half of 2023. And after the film's festival run, we plan to make the film largely available online for everyone!
