Mission Statement
Alyson is a young woman who showcases the grit and tenacity I believe everyone should aspire to. The film also deals with corruption in authority and law-enforcement and how everyone should make a stand against this corruption. The film's message is protect the innocent, and be champions of justice.About The Project
Why Me?
Rural Colorado has been under-represented in films and I believe that Seventh Wolf can help change that. Huerfano County is home to gorgeous and diverse landscapes. This film will show in film festivals around the world and I am excited to introduce people to the land I call home.
I believe that making Seventh Wolf will show kids from small towns that they can be and do whatever they want. I want them to see me, a ranch kid from Walsenburg, making films that show internationally and ask themselves, “Why can’t I do that too?” I believe wholeheartedly that people are not limited by who they are or where they come from, but only by their imagination and what they choose to do. Hard work is the greatest equalizer known to humankind.
I have written and directed several short films before, but I look forward to Seventh Wolf and the new challenges it presents. This film centers around the female protagonist of Alyson and I am excited to subvert expectations and break common stereotypes. I want Alyson to be a role model for viewers. She is strong, fair, disciplined, caring, and indomitable. Virtues all should aspire to.
Why This?
The world we live in can be difficult. There are inevitable waves of dark and cruel times. I want to inspire audiences to keep fighting through the difficulty. The characters of Seventh Wolf all go through grim times. However, they refuse to give up. They seek a way to move forward, remembering that night is darkest just before the dawn.
Another message I think everyone can benefit from is self-sacrifice. At the beginning of the film, Kismet chooses to sacrifice his own life in order to save his children. Later on, Brynn sacrifices time and energy to train Samael and Alyson. Laying down selfish values and helping others is key to creating a better world.
But perhaps the most important message in Seventh Wolf is that of justice. The narrative shows that walking away from evil and corruption is not enough. Confronting the evil and stopping it is the choice that should be taken, not simply not participating.
This film will test my abilities as a filmmaker. But I believe that showing characters doing what is right, regardless of the consequences, is a message that is well worth it.
We've teamed up with the Spanish Peaks Community Foundation and Fox Theatre Walsenburg, so all donations are tax-deductible! I need your help to make this film. Even if you cannot contribute monetarily, follow the project and share it on your social media! Doing so will increase our reach and you'll have my immense gratitude. The more people that see the campaign the better.
All of us working on this project want to make it the best it can be. We also want as many people as possible to see the finished product, so follow the campaign, and watch Seventh Wolf when it's released in November!
COVID-19 has delayed much of our pre-production (fight choreography, table reads, etc.), but due to our rural locations in Huerfano County (with only three COVID cases to date), we fully expect to be able to film at our set dates of July 13th-17th!
