Story
Mission Statement
We seek to use this scenario to explore the fragility of relationships: What are the consequences of taking ownership of your partner's belongings? Can such a simple request be the first step in attachment? Also, exploring how seasons influence our decisions within relationships.About The Project
A story about the life of Sarah & Ryan's relationship, as seen from the perspective of the Shirt she borrows from him & wears all the time.
Which leads to the question: who gets to keep it if they break up? More importantly who has to let go?
This is a 15-20 min Short film intended for a Film Festival run.
WHAT WE HAVE...
-
A TEAM - The entire film is crewed up and cast. Every single person working on this film is someone we've met in the industry. These are working professionals who have agreed to take lower daily rates because they're excited and committed to making something special.
-
A LOCATION & EQUIPMENT- We are very fortunate to get a garage in New Jersey for free to build our Game Show SET. We are also very fortunate to have camera equipment and lighting available to us at discounted rates.
WHAT WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH...
-
LABOR - Even with everyone pledging their time and agreeing to take a pay cut to bring this to life, we still need to compensate our artists. This is a 5 day shoot. Some people are taking time away from their day jobs to assist. Some could be using this time for vacation.
-
SET CONSTRUCTION - This will help cover costly expenses for wood and give our talent a space to bring this show to life.
-
TRANSPORTATION - This will help us rent a van for the week so we transport crew to and from our set in NJ. Never leave a crew member behind!
-
FOOD - This will assist in nourishing us throughout our long days.
-
ESSENTIALS - COVID Safety supplies: KB95's, face shields, sanitizer and all the good stuff to keep all cast and crew as safe as possible. Canopies for outdoor holding area, snacks for craft services.
Inspiration| a message from our writer Joshua Radford
HI there it's been quite the year
...and a half won't you say? Happy you are here. And if you've found your way to this page, then at some point we've inspired each other over our passion for storytelling.
I like to think we gravitate to storytelling because of our urge to express the truth in the world. Sure, some people watch movies to escape and forget about their lives, but I've always watched them to understand life.
I was born in 1988 and remember movies constantly fueling my wild imagination. While deeply biased, I do think the 90's were the coolest era to spend your childhood. We went from pitching which Blockbuster movies to rent for the weekend to ultimately growing up and saving AMC/GAMESTOP by buying up stock! So there's no denying millenials' love for stories! With my directorial debut I couldnt think of a more fitting way to pay homage to the decade I was born in.
This past year we've all had no choice but to really see the person in the mirror.
For me... I couldn't shake the fact that I've spent a decade trying to make it as an actor, waiting to be invited to the sets of strangers.
I finally went back to the basics. I started writing again. I started processing my failed relationships. And you know what? At the end of that tunnel I actually felt ready to share myself with the world.
I didn't realize that with all those years, I was actually developing my taste. Getting one step closer to success with each failed experiment.
And after processing that breakup, and finding myself starting a new relationship... I noticed this pattern, this moment where it all starts with her asking to borrow a shirt.
Once they ask for the shirt, theres no going back.
It was finally time to engage with the wonderfully talented people I've been sharing the trenches with. And after developing my wild idea into a compact 15 page script: we are now proud to say...
LETS GET WEIRD TOGETHER because: Live from the world's deepest closet it's time to play...
"Do You Have a Shirt I Could Wear"?
A Shirt Film. A comedy with a supernatural element. It's like "Chronicles of Narnia" meets Tinder. Or "Say Anthing" meets "Wizard of Oz"
- Joshua Radford
Since our story starts in March 2021, admist the backdrop of COVID, we want to incorporate a feeling of isolation and craving for connection.
I drew plenty of inspiration from movies like "Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind" and "Being John Malkovich" Stories that take an obtuse concept and grounded it in a harsh reality. It's this contrast we want to work within, establishing a realistic setting and then throwing a wild circumstance at our characters to deal with.
Game show inspiration started with Australia's wildly popular 80's dating show: "Perfect Match" We also wanted to pay omages to Sonny & Cher as well as showmen like Cantinflas.
Sarah & Ryan - Cool and down to earth, Sarah is someone who is not freaked out by a closet wormhole but into it! She has a secure attachment style and is definitely seeking a monogamous relationship.
She owns her sense of humor and while she’s had her moments being the life of the party, she much rather stay at home in her comfort zone. She self medicates her anxiety by smoking weed.
Sensitive, goofy with a knack for saying the wrong thing, Ryan can be very endearing. While he usually means well, his indecisiveness can get him into trouble sometimes.
Ryan has a fearful avoidant attachment style and is looking to be loved. He can be a stickler on the rules and has a low tolerance which results in manic and paranoid behavior.
Carrie & Javier - The engaging hosts of “Do You Have a Shirt I Could Wear?” Seemingly trapped inside the closest since the mid 80’s, Carrie & Javier come to life in this moment to put on the show they’ve helped create.
Tension has been building for years as they’re clearly sick of sharing a space together. They even gave love a shot and have grown children, now in their mid twenties, assisting on set.
Despite being very prone to bickering with each other in public, they always find a way to deliver an entertaining show!
Shirt #2 - An oversized band tee of obscure 80's crooner Frederick Stevenson, who tragically died on his first US tour, in a head on collision in Arizona.
It exists inside Ryan's closet unbeknownst to Sarah, who has been a long time fan. The two instantly hit it off by singing a karaoke duet of his hit single "believe"
Shirt #2 wins over Sarah as one of the single shirt contestants on the dating game show that exists in Ryan’s closet. It does so by being naturally charming and well informed. This shirt is woke and naturally knows how to comfort someone.

JOSE C. GORRITTI | Javier / Producer
I’m a multi-talented creative mind born and raised in Lima, Perú. Music was my first love and film sound engineering my first serious relationship. Over the years, I’ve had very close contact with many creative people in NYC – in such diverse areas as the ones involved in the process of filmmaking – and this experience made me discover a much wider field of vision for my creative curiosity to explore beyond sound.
My work can be heard in all kinds of audiovisual productions made in the last 10 years in the U.S. and my most ambitious venture yet – producing and directing a feature length documentary film, 5 years in the making – has put my talents to the test, in areas like writting, editing and motion graphics. This has expanded and enhanced my vision of sound and music in a big way, greatly and positively impacting the work I produce for my clients.
Matthew R. Corbett | Shirt #1/Executive Producer
An actor, writer and filmmaker who is never short on enthusiasm. He's that type of person who makes work not feel like work. He just knows how to have fun while getting stuff done.
