Mission Statement
We know the best stories win the future. We are committed to highlighting stories of the African diaspora and our intersectional world in a positive light. STONE FATE’s Afro-futurist web series is made to nourish the Black community and illustrate these differences that enrich our society.About The Project
One-hundred-and-thirty years after the end of Western Civilization, a pair of young dreamers must unite and mature into the leaders who will to save their homeland.
In this grand Afrofuturist tale -- two powerful dreamers become the leaders that save their post-apocalyptic city from the nefarious machinations of its Founding Fathers -- our Team has written a vision of the future like nothing else yet seen.
Stories like these are rare: Black Sci-fi told by Black people, rooted in greatness, strength, and excellence, are often overlooked in mainstream media. Narratives told about Black folk are almost always rooted in suffering. These types of stories reinforce the stereotype of Black communities and ignore the infinite stories arising from Black culture that are rooted in joy, strength, and wholesome adventure.
We are here to change that.
We’ve curated a series for those who love thrilling romance with brilliant diverse characters and those who want to experience the Afrofuture now, . This has also been curated for all Sci-Fi lovers, comic book lovers, fans of action, adventure and fantasy, and YOU!
We, The Black Writer’s Collective, will use these funds to produce Episode 1 - THE STONES for streaming on Kweli TV or other platforms that are grounded in diversity, and will submit it in the 2022 festival circuit, as we use the episode to secure funding and produce the complete first Season of STONE FATE.
This framework reflects how our production will unfold in 2021. For more process details and associated costs, please visit our website here.
Why do y’all need $30k?
To ensure that the quality matches the writing and the gravity of the material, we have optimized costs while maintaining what is necessary for good quality. In keeping with our goals, we also make sure that everyone involved is compensated for their hard work.
OK! Where is the money going?
Funds help pay for producing the pilot episode of STONE FATE, covering the equipment, crew, cast, locations, and other costs necessary for to the realization of an Afrofuture world.
How much are y'all getting?
The budget does not cover the creative team. We are putting everything into the production. We are in it to create the best work possible and secure funding for the full series and will defer our compensation until then.

About This Team
The Black Writer's Collective:
Producer - Dani Craig:
Dani Craig hails from Pittsburgh, PA and received her B.A. in Communication from Cornell University. She is a writer and producer of Black female-led dramas and comedies for TV and film. She took a leap of faith and decided to leave her career as a Business Banker to start the Master of Entertainment Industry Management program at Carnegie Mellon University. That decision led her to pack up and move cross-country to Los Angeles. To support her family she ventured into the business side of the industry, yet felt unfulfilled. During the pandemic, she dove into her creativity, starting to write and paint. This led her to unlocking what she had kept hidden. Taking full advantage of industry resources, she wrote her first script, a comedy pilot. Most importantly, she created THE BLACK WRITER'S COLLECTIVE to commune with writers to act as her cohort, sounding board, writing partners, and story editors. They now have a Writers Room where they have written a 10-episode genre-hopping Afro-futurist web series, STONE FATE. Never one to shy away from adventure and travel, she has explored over 25 countries and counting, many solo. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her two 20-something children.Showrunner - Seth Paradox:
Seth Paradox has been part of film productions in Japan, India, Singapore, Indonesia, Canada, and the U.S., run his own production company (VODOU FEATHER FILMS), trained adults and youth in animation and film production, has written features (THE GAME) and television pilots (THE COURIER OF ALL THINGS) and still found time for a little bit of adventure, such as catching deadly creatures, like California Newts and Banded Sea Kraits, swimming in bioluminescent phytoplankton, and getting locked in a cave three flights below Rome. Seth holds an MFA in Film & Television Production from NYU and has additional background in film studies. He creates media that seeks to uplift and reflect humanity’s greatest qualities, and he works to support the creative endeavors and careers of Black and Indigenous artists. A world-traveler, who lived for three years in South-East Asia, he has visited 19 countries.Writers - Monique Clark:
Monique Clark is a Maryland native currently residing in California. She is a screenwriter with aspirations to direct and is currently in the process of building an independent production company. She began writing as a healing method after completing a 6-year enlistment in the Air Force. Combining this new therapeutic outlet with her love for television, specifically her obsession with Shonda Rhimes’ TV dramas, she decided to hone in on the art of screenwriting. Her intent is to tell stories that will help others feel seen as well as help them cope with and heal from struggles similar to her own.- Naleeka Dennis:
Naleeka is a Jamaican-American writer from Levittown, NY. The flame of creativity was ignited in her after seeing the movie Titanic for the first time. She became obsessed with storytelling. She would spend hours in front of the TV drawing scenes from films she wanted to make. Ten years later, Naleeka was accepted into her dream school of New York University to study film & television production. She developed and honed her craft in writing and production sound as well. After graduating, she made her living as a production sound mixer. Even though she was working in her preferred industry, she felt a creative void in her life. One existential crisis and solo trip abroad later, Naleeka quit her job in New York City and moved to California to earn her MFA in Screenwriting from Chapman University. She currently resides in LA.- Yaa Asantewaa Faraji:
Yaa Asantewaa Faraji is a Los Angeles-based screenwriter, poet and author of Calabama, a January 2021 Amazon Best Seller, published through World Stage Press. Earning her first Writer’s Tea Award at age 8, Faraji continues to be a messenger of story for multicultural groups. She is a Da Poetry Lounge monthly slam winner, a VoyageLA 2020 Hidden Gem of Los Angeles nominee, and has guest featured at The Los Angeles Film School, FOX Soul, The Pan African Film Festival, and more. Before moving to California to pursue screenwriting, Yaa Asantewaa Faraji studied at The Pennsylvania State University and holds a B.A. in Advertising and Global Management. She has traveled to more than 10 countries and frequently jumps off cliffs to prove to herself that she is still alive. She is currently developing her debut short film, DAYLIGHT. Visit her at www.farajithewriter.com- Angel Williams:
Angel Williams acquired her first-hand knowledge of story as a 4-year army veteran. The pre-gentrification D.C.-native used writing to escape and cope with the world around her. A mother of three - two on the Autism Spectrum - and a wife of over 20 years, she has turned her passion into a career, writing her first short (V IS FOR VEGAN) in 2019, for Denver’s 48-Hr Film Festival, and currently writes and develops an Afro-futurist web-series, STONE FATE. She has had the honor of attending multiple workshops provided by the WGA for veterans to guide her along her path. -
