Mission Statement

To create an intriguing and entertaining story for audiences through the classic audio drama format and flipping it on its head. The Demonic Detective will do just that with its unique blend of mystery and horror while keeping true to its golden age radio inspirations.

The Story

THE STORY

  • New Salem, 1943. Detective Jack Faust starts the day like he does every other - with a double shot of Seventh Circle Bourbon, neat. What he doesn’t know is that tonight, he will be possessed by a demon. Jack will not only have to battle his literal demon within, but stop The Coven - a gang of witches led by Morogon Allistair who plan to destroy the city and everyone in it, including Jack’s childhood friend, Madame Zola. But first, another swig of that slow burning bourbon.

  • The story format and style is inspired by golden age radio dramas like The Adventures of Phillip Marlowe & The Shadow. It was also inspired by classic film noir like Detour, Out of the Past and The Maltese Falcon.

WHY MAKE DEMONIC DETECTIVE?

  • Audio is and has always been one of the most effective ways to tell a story. In radio's heyday, listeners would tune in daily and weekly to their favorite shows in every genre. They'd be invested, entertained and anxiously awaiting the next episode. The Demonic Detective can recapture that feeling in todays age of podcast dramas. Whether you're in your car, your bedroom, or even out on your porch with headphones, you'll be able to travel to another time and place and explore the world of New Salem through the eyes of Detective Jack Faust.

  • The story of the Salem Witch trials is a historical event with its reverberations felt to this very day. In today's politically volatile world, telling a story about the witch trials coming back through the lens of a supernatural period set detective drama really opens the door for unique exploration of modern day themes that people can relate to while being drawn into the story and history.

  • There are some amazing podcast dramas out there, but I haven't found many that use the old-style format, which I think has been pushed aside. I still think the format is valuable for world building and expanding on show lore. The Demonic Detective takes this old format and turns it on its head to do just that. Expand the world of The Demonic Detective in a unique way.
