The Story
OUR SHORT FILM IS ABOUT
A troubled potential high school shooter meets with her Principal one final time and an unstable dialogue between caution and terror ensues.
Pushing Forward Clip 2 Z from al bernstein on Vimeo.
THE HOPE
I am producing my short film to create something that will spark an intelligent conversation that goes beyond the horrors of the headlines. I want to continue a dialogue within our communities, high school education system, mental health organizations, youth outreach programs and generate some mindfulness, awareness seminars on mental health in our youth, because the topics are some of the most important parents and young people face today.
THESE QUESTIONS CAN START A DIALOGUE.
WHAT WE NEED
WE HAVE RAISED $5100.00 USD!
WE ARE ASKING FOR AROUND $7000.00 TO GET
TO PRE-PRODUCTION.
The budget of the film is approximately $26,000.00 USD that includes: a two or three day shoot in Los Angeles, cast, crew, craft services, equipment, rentals, insurance, post-production, advertising and reaching the widest audiences as possible via major film festivals like TIFF, Tribeca and Sundance, short film television programming, the Internet and most importantly reaching high schools and mental health organizations around the world.
HERE ARE OTHER WAYS YOU CAN ENCOURAGE A DIALOGUE ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH IN OUR YOUTH.
Please support these organizations & individuals doing all they can to help and support mental health in today's world.

About This Team
AL BERNSTEIN: After graduating from York University in Toronto, I set my sights on New York City to become a working actor and a good actor. My training began at Circle in the Square and moved to Uta Hagen’s HB Studio. I worked and performed on the New York stage for many years until I was accepted into my dream program, Actors Studio Drama School at the New School University where I received my MFA. Today, I work as an actor and writer in Los Angeles and Toronto.
DAVID MORRISON: is an Emmy nominated Cinematographer based in Los Angeles. He’s lensed numerous crtically acclaimed films and commercial campaigns. Most notably the Haskell Wexler Award for Best Cinematography was given to David for his work on Stephanie Daley. This past year David lensed the #LIKEAGIRL campaign which has also won numerous wards and been viewed 100 million times and most im- portantly, impacting hearts and minds world wide. His approach to photography is simple and elegant and the camera lens in David’s opinion must always listen first.
“Stephanie Daley” is beautifully made. The cinematography, by David Rush Morrison, is both sharp-eyed and self-effacing, with particular emphasis on shooting faces in what seems to be natural light.”
Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal
To David being invisible and capturing an honest performance is the ultimate goal. As a DP he considers his place on the set the “best seat in the house” because he’s the first to see a performance. Capturing that magic is the most essential element and finding a way to make it visually compelling comes with 30 years of experience looking through a lens.
