This film deals with topics that are sorely underrepresented: first and foremost women who may not want to be mothers and what it looks like to have the courage to stand by your truth even when it cost you everything.

About The Project
a little bit of depth:
We want to start a conversation that we believe needs to be had. A conversation that challenges the social dogma of who we should be and brings to light how the complexities of human experience makes that concept a moot point.
The Space Between is a story about a woman named Rachel, who is still struggling with the grief of losing her mother at a young age and with the societal pressures of who she feels she should be in regards to motherhood. When Rachel begins to unfold what it looks like to face her fears and doubts and trust the honesty of what is in her heart, tension arises in her life and marriage.
This is a story for anyone who shares the same doubts and fears. Whether it be about ourselves, our future or the unknown, we want to explore what it looks like to have the courage to stand by your truth even when it could cost you everything.
a note from the writer:
This is also a film about loss.
I have continued to deal with the passing of my Mother since I watched her take her last breath 27 years ago. It's been a painful journey that has inspired many of my creative ventures, but never anything this personal. The experience of losing a parent is something that haunts you, and the older you get the deeper that void grows.Everyone can identify with loss, whether close to you or not, and we all deal with it differently. Loss alters us, for better or worse, and this film considers those complexities.
-- Amber Sweeta note from the director:
It's no accident that this script found me. And I'm honored to be able to handle a story so rich and full of my own life experience; that of grief, loss and healing.I believe that being alive at this time in history is such an extrodinary experience. Everything in our world is shifting toward equality and open conversation and while we are still feeling the tension, we can also see the waves that change brings. What a time to be a woman! What a time to stand for change! What a time to ignite the spark of hope and justice and bravery.
Regardless of your gender, sexual orientation, race, color or orgin this story is about being true to who you are. It's about self-acceptance and honesty. It's about courage and tenacity in the face of heartbreaking possibility and we hope it's a story that speaks to you.

the logistics:
We are so excied to share this story and so honored to be able to do it with the help of our friends! So before we go any further, thank you for taking the time to jump in with us. You are the real MVP.
That being said there are a ton of logistics that go into seeing this thing come to life. Everything from locations to rehersals all the way through shooting and post-production. And while these things take time, we are feeling pretty bad ass.Timeline: Our hope is to have this funded and be ready to shoot by the beginning of July. We have three days of shooting on the books and are excited to get rolling!
Budget: We know how ambitious our goals are and we aren't afraid. In fact, we'd love to see more come in! It only means a better film, but one way or another we will see this story told.
Every single bit of our budget is going directly to making this film, paying our professionals (and feeding them) and we absolutely could not do it without you! Thank you again to each and every one of you who contribute to The Space Between, and the conversation of courage, self-acceptance and challenging the status quo. Please visit the wishlist tab to see where our funds are going, and be sure to check out the team tab to see what amazing individuals are on board for The Space Between!
