The Story
After a disastrous production of Reefer Madness in their town’s historic theatre, director Ben, choreographer Kris, and actress Gigi find themselves locally canceled. With the venue on the brink of financial collapse, Executive Director Lisa has no choice but to bring the troubled trio back in hopes of staging a crowd-pleasing musical. Under intense pressure to redeem themselves, the beleaguered team sets out to find local talent, discovering Andi, a gifted singer from a karaoke bar with no formal theatrical experience. As they assemble their eccentric cast and navigate the ups and downs of their comeback attempt, they face high stakes and bigger challenges. In this high-energy, comedic journey, they’ll learn that when it comes to making a second chance count, Anything Goes.
Community theatre has brought some of the most memorable stories and incredible people into my life, and I know I’m not alone in feeling this way. In every town, there’s a group of dedicated individuals—of all ages—who work tirelessly, often for free, to bring entertainment to their communities.
Theatre People is a tribute to that special world. While the story draws from my own experiences, it’s not a direct portrayal of anyone I’ve worked with. Instead, it’s a reflection of a cherished period in my life—a time when rehearsals, late nights, and weekends were filled with the joy and camaraderie of creating a production. This show celebrates those who live for the fleeting glory of a short run that becomes a treasured memory—or a grainy bootleg.
Your contributions will help us cover the costs of production, including set design, costumes, and post-production work. Every dollar brings us closer to showcasing our story and sharing the laughter and drama of Theatre People with the world. Join us on this exciting journey and become a part of our theatrical adventure.
With your support, we can make this story a reality and bring Theatre People to audiences everywhere. For years, this project has been close to me, and something that a group of talented theatre people and I have always tried to bring to life. Now, we can do that with the incredibly professional team from Red Flight Pictures. Thank you for your support in making this dream a reality!

About This Team
Theatre People has been a passion project for nearly a decade, and many of the current team members have been with us from the very beginning. Loosely inspired by our backstage antics and the beautiful friendships formed during those times, Michael Roman has been a cornerstone of the project since day one. As a pair of gay best friends, I've always found our relationship wasn't something the media ever nailed - it's either a trope or a side character to add some flavor to a show, so to bring this kind of friendship to the forefront in a way I've always thought was lacking has been truly special.
James Haggerty, another incredibly talented theatre friend, has been involved from the start, consistently showing up to shoot through numerous rewrites and reboots. Whether we were filming a web series, a pilot, or revisiting the web series concept—all on an iPhone, mind you—James's dedication has been unwavering.
As the project evolved, I was lucky to meet Carolyn Nelson through the local theatre scene. The moment I saw her perform, I knew she was exactly what this project needed. Fabulous, fierce, and immensely talented, Carolyn has been an integral part of the journey ever since.
Initially, this project was a pipe dream, but I was fortunate to connect with Kyle B. Thompson and the team at Red Flight Pictures through the Phoenixville Film Festival. Our professional relationship soon blossomed into a friendship, and when Theatre People came up in conversation, they generously offered their expertise to elevate the project—no iPhone required this time!

Through Red Flight Pictures, they introduced Rick Cook. Rick is a freelance cinematographer and videographer based in Philadelphia, PA, with a deep-seated passion for storytelling. Specializing in cinematic documentaries, branded content, and web videos, Rick is dedicated to capturing and conveying compelling narratives and emotions through visual media. With a keen eye for detail and a creative approach to filmmaking, Rick strives to create impactful stories that resonate with audiences, bringing every project to life with a unique and engaging perspective.
With the production quality being significantly enhanced by Kyle, Rick, and the Red Flight team, I contacted Jake McClellan, a friend, colleague, and one of the creative forces behind HeBGB TV. His rare blend of creative energy and talent has been a tremendous asset to the project.
Together, this incredible team brings a unique blend of passion, talent, and dedication to Theatre People. From our early days of iPhone shoots to the elevated production values we strive for now, each member has played a crucial role in shaping this project. We’re excited to continue this journey with their unparalleled creativity and support, and we can’t wait to share the final result with you. Thank you for being a part of our story!
