Hey, I'm Estrella!

Fort Wayne, Indiana

In keeping with the tradition started when this blog was born (4 years ago today), here is my end-of-year news quiz. Good to have you here! 3 may or may not have picked a good day to go to the Chelsea Flower Show depending on which way you look at it. A lot of people come across good online business opportunities, but most of them quit before finding financial freedom, and they jump onto the next online business opportunity. You should reward people who provide content on your site with as much value and flexibility as possible. Ive always envied people who can whip up a blog post straight after returning from - or sometimes while still at - a conference. In a blog challenge the idea of which is to post 11 random facts about oneself, answer 11 questions posted by the blogger who tagged you and then pass the baton by posting 11 questions and tagging 11 other bloggers. Dont be put off by the fact that some questions may seem difficult. As some of you may know, Ive been doing an end-of-year news round-up for quite a few years now. Hmmm. How about this: All mail sent to Grubb Street becomes property of Grubb Street, and may be reproduced, edited, and revised with an eye towards clarity, accuracy, and mockery. Following the fun photo-shoot, Sarah asked Kinky if he minded her posting his picture with her, on her FaceBook page. Some of the blogs Ive picked can be found here or scroll down to the bottom of the page to see my blogroll (Blogs worth checking out). I was asked how I set about making these cards so will share it here. I used Cotman 190gsm paper since it is a little thinner than my usual 300gsm and I was making a large number of cards so I didnt want too much bulk. At first I thought Id revamp the look of my blog but you need time for that and there is not much you can do on Blogger until they improve their Dynamic Views templates. I look forward to hearing your comments. Look at the colours and pigment information in both my blog posts and decide which work best for you. But I hope youve enjoyed my posts or rather used in class some of my ideas and activities. It astounds me that while missions of museums seem to embrace this fundamental democratic notion of being for and about the people, senior professionals are so reluctant to accept visitor voices and embrace or even incorporate visitor generated ideas into the fabric of their institutions. Ultimately, what The Tech Virtual community contributed was great ideas for exhibits. Ive put up a simple site that you can use to recommend community activities and tools that would be useful to you. The hanging heart would also make a fab ornament on its own - simple add a coordinating ribbon loop and a matching backing heart (either cut a plain red felt heart or repeat the relevant steps to make two decorated hearts to join together). This afternoon after Tony left to go to Medina, I was so inspired by that loom potholder tutorial I decided to make another potholder-like the one she used in the tutorial. Tony said. Then we followed Beto to our table for six, near the cash register and then we sat down. I was down to around five titles at the beginning of the year. Among the highlights of the year was speaking at two international conferences: IATEFL in Brighton in April and TESOL France in November not to mention a handful of local ones including the prestigious EnglishForum at the MOFET Institute. Although I didnt write any IATEFL 2012 reflections there was one session that particularly resonated with me: Andrew Walkleys Technology and principles in language learning. This originally started as an ELT resources blog focusing on lexical activities but with time I also started posting thoughts and reflections (or rather rants) on language teaching in general. Especially since I started teaching more lexically, Ive been paying more attention to how words combine into patterns and how vocabulary interacts with grammar to create meaning. A word of reminder: the quiz is not meant to test your students general knowledge but to expand their vocabulary. Ive spent all my teaching and training career improving my knowledge of English and honing my understanding of how it works.
