From Jappan is The Wonder Years meets Hey Arnold told from an Indian-American perspective. Set in the late 90's to early 2000's, we follow Jappan, an immigrant, from his childhood into young adulthood.

Director's statement
I was raised like many children of the 90s by a television set, and I imagine many children of today are raised by their computers in some fashion. As a child raised by media, I remember learning life lessons on my favorite shows such as "The Wonder Years," and thinking how drastically differently the issues would be dealt with in my very Indian household in suburban Texas. This short is a concept for a show I want to make; a show that South Asian youth can watch and see themselves in. I want kids to realize that they are not alone, that someone else out there understands their need to be a productive part of the West while carrying the weight of the diaspora. "From Jappan" as a series will tell those stories from a heartfelt, personal, and comedic perspective - and work as a vehicle to showcase what these stories can be! "If we won’t tell our stories, who will?"
