The Characters
DWAYNE & SAM
Dwayne is our protagonist. For many years Dwayne was accustomed to being the center of attention, the hereoic cowboy in many classic movies. He's now having a hard time realizing those glory days are over. He's lived his life as a bachleor relying on the admiration of his fans to fill the void where his love life should be. As that form of acclaim has died down he realizes what he really wants is a kind of love he can't receive from the masses.
Sam is Dwaynes underachieving best friend. He's comforatble in the life he lives which includes a routine of drinking with his buddy at the bar. Sam and Dwayne have relied on one another throughout the years, he's the one constant person in Dwaynes life.
I was influenced heavily by 1955s best picture winner, Marty. I imagine Dwayne to be like Ernest Borgnines character Marty (styled like John Wayne) and Sam to be his friend in the film.

NORMA:
Norma is the female lead. She's the epitome of a femme fatale. Wise beyond her years, she carries herself with the class of a dignitary, causing her to be both alluring and intimidating. She is also a lonely soul who has kept her life that way purposly because of a dark secret she has been harboring.
I imagine Norma to be like Hedy Lamarr or Gloria Swanson- with a touch of Morticia.

JOHNNY & THE REBELS:
The band will play a big role in the way the night turns out. After all- they're part of the orchestration to ambush the innocent victims of Fairbrooke. The band will consist of 6-7 members all styled in 50s matching tuexedos.

JOE:
Most of the story is told through the perspecitive of Joe, the bartender/owner of the lounge. His bar is just about the only thing he cares about in his life. The years haven't been kind to him and he holds deep resentment towards Christmas, resulting in a tough exterior. He has no interest in hearing nonsense about his customers mundane lives-he just wants to pour you a drink. However, much to his dismay, Joe gets wrapped up in the madness of the night.

THE EXTRAS:
This cast of extras will include individuals of all ages. Dressed to the nines in their finest 50s fashion, these poor souls are in for one hell of a night! I enjoy thrifting and have already found a few outfits that would be perfect for this period.

LOCATIONS
Lounge:
I'm looking for a lounge that's spacious enough to have a stage and space for a dance floor. Something that has the feel of a tavern/hole in the wall you'd find in a small mountain town.

Norma's home
Normas home will be a challenge to find. But I’m looking for an elegant estate that’s adorned with ornate antiques. A fireplace is a must.

Exterior town/woods
There will be a quick exterior scene with Norma and Dwayne walking through a small town. Later in the script there’s another ext scene that’ll take place in the woods near a desolate road.

Why now?
With all the awareness being brought to the forefront regarding the lack of women and diversity in this industry I feel now is the time for me to make this project, because there are still not enough women directors out there in comparison to the men. Same goes for people of color. And that needs to change.

Especially in the horror genre, women are often underrepresented or overlooked- and with the start of these issues being corrected I feel it's incredibly important, now more than ever, to support diversity in this industry.
With your contribution you can help do that!
Any amount you can give would be amazing! And if you’d like to help in another way- I will need assistance in finding locations, crew, equipment, and a band.
Please reach out to me if there's another way you'd like to be a part of this project.

About This Team

Writer & Director
Born and raised in New Orleans, LA. My love of watching and making movies dates way back to my childhood, I would pick up my parents video camera and make short films with my brothers and cousin to pass the time.
The idea of making a career of fiImmaking hardly crossed my mind until it came time to pick a path after high school. That's when I realized there's nothing else in life I'd like to do. So I attended the University of New Orleans, receiving my degree in Film Arts.
I moved to LA a few years ago and have been working in the industry for over five years. Lately I've been working a lot in reality tv but my true passion is in the scripted world.
To get a little taste of my filmmaking style, check out a short I made in college:

Film composer
Brandon Carcamo is currenlty a classical music major at Loyola University in New Orleans, where this semester he'll be mentored by an estasblished film composer in the industry. Brandon is also a graduate of NOCCA (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts) where he studied jazz under New Orleans leading Jazz educators. Brandon's infatuation with music began with a guitar, now he's seldom seen without one! He reccently won first place in the ensemble division at the Houston Classical Guitar Festivel and has established a business of his own giving guitar lessons to those of all ages.
But his passion for music goes beyond one instrument-Brandon is multi-talented, receiving many accolades for his musical abilities throughout the years, and is now working towards a future in film scoring.

Producer
Edmund Lozano is a filmmaker from El Paso, TX. He's written and directed several short films and is currently in the editing phase of a documentary set in Juarez, Chihuahua.
A big fan of the horror/thriller genre and raised on a steady diet of Twilight Zone episodes, I Love Lucy, and 80s slasher films, it's an exciting opportunity for him to contribute toward the success of A Night at Fairbrooke Lounge.
