Kids Fest!
We are all children at heart. You’re invited to rediscover that childhood (and maybe even find out something about your present and future) with the Real to Reel Film Fest official selections for this year’s Kid’s fest. Varied styles of animation from around the world are featured in this Kid’s Fest block of films. A sci-fi story of friendship; environmental awakening, and anti-bullying are a few of the themes you’ll find this year.

This is a fairy tale that happened on a desk. The little toy pianist fell in love with a music box ballerina who is sealing in the glass bell. However, he couldn’t wake her up because the key of the music box was lost. Therefore, he made up his mind to take his own clockwork to charge the energy to the music box, which cost his life. But the fantastic thing happened: the ballerina is actually a fairy. She saw the keyhole behind the boy so she raised the boy with magic. They finally lived happily together.
In Our Nature
An animated documentary exploring humanity’s relationship with nature through a world of interviewed “animals.”
Lost in Place
A young girl and her pet robot go on a journey, physically and emotionally.
Cycling
A young woman recounts her difficulty coping with painful inner emotions through a series of memories in which her feelings are represented by different forms of water.
Creepy
It’s early in the morning and school is about to start – many children are happy to see their friends again. But some kids don’t – just like CREEPY. He looks different, that’s why the other pupils don’t accept him as a friend. They nettle him and make fun of him again and again, even the teacher joins them. Only the class representative Emma seems to understand CREEPY’s situation and sympathizes. Can she help him to be respected and make friends?
The Rivals
An animated epigram, created by 12 year old Piotr, as part of the Legnica Film Academy (LAF WFA) 2019, where the film took 2nd place in the 13-14 age category.

For over 20-years, Real to Reel has featured docs from around the world. This year, our slate of doc shorts will carry you from abandoned mines in Canadian ghost towns, to alpine huts in the White Mountains, to rivers in Ellsworth, Maine. You’ll also be offered environmental poetry with a thought-provoking stroll through the forest, a ride with a young rodeo talent, and a seat next to a 104-year-old church organist in rural North Carolina.
Drama, action, dark comedy, coming of age & horror are all on display for the official short films of the 21st Annual Real to Reel Film Fest. Since the inception of the festival over two decades ago, the film short has been a staple of this multi-category film fest. You’ll find works from professional filmmakers w/ connections to the Hollywood industry, student projects from film schools & amateur filmmakers with a love of the art of cinema.
Beyond Dreams
Documentary Features
Beyond Dreams follows Roman Romancini, one of the most important Bazillian mountaineers, as he deals with possibly never climbing again after being hit by a car, how he fought cancer & how he kept his dream to climb Mount Everest alive as motivation to heal.
