Being unbridledly earnest has so much power to inspire and pull on the threads that connect us all to each other. Through 111, I hope to explore what narrative film can do through forming and nurturing a deeper partnership between filmmaker and you, the viewer.

Mission Statement

Our creative team is comprised of all females / females of color, and the crew and cast is comprised primarily of female filmmakers and filmmakers of color. Championing and pushing for diversity in film, is something I believe should start from the ground up.

The Story

The last in a series of films, each about one of the women in my family, 111 tells two narratives, both alike and yet very different.

Jack, a 10 year old girl goes on a trip with her father to visit her grandfather's grave in the 21st century. Father and daughter attempt to connect but fall short- their minds and bodies both in transit but moving in separate directions.

Meanwhile, in 19th century Germany, a devout nun falls in love with a fisherman- Adam. She struggles with her growing desires for Adam in the face of her love for the Father.

The first in the series, Mit Karin, was for my grandmother, the second They Came At Dusk, for my mother, and 111, the third, is for me. For this film I took a lot of inspiration from my relationship with my father over the years, and wanted to honor that for my penultimate work in this deeply personal series. As a filmmaker I am so interested in exploring what kinds of connections we can make between two unlike things and pushing the boundaries of what we can do with narrative film.

When the film is complete, it will premiere in Syracuse NY, in May of 2020 before taking a festval run for a season.
