The Story

In $126 on Pump 6 all of the characters are reflections of me in different stages of life. Avery and Nate are an honest reflection of what I was like as a teenager dirt bag. Gary is me at my lowest moments during my twenties. All of my life I’ve struggled to find my identity, and this project is as much as a reflection as it is a statement that I have found a path in this industry as a writer and director.
I wanted to write and depict some of my favorite, and least favorite parts of working with people, and people that you unexpectedly become friends with. This film is the love letter to work place relationships, and is dedicated to the individuals who I've worked with both in the film industry, and outside of it.

Gazpacho Film Labs presents $126 On Pump 6: a coming of age, dark comedy film in the vein of Superbad, American Pie, and After Hours. While two teenagers are working part time at a gas station, they get held at gun point. Their friendship is pushed through a whirlwind of emotions. Why? Because they both try to convince the gun man to shoot the other.
Nate, a junior in high school, spends most of his nights as a part-time gas station attendant. Alongside his dim witted co-worker Avery, a senior at the same school. It’s a routine for them, the art of not working while on the clock. They yap to each other across the store, speaking about the newest movies and the girls they are, or aren’t banging. Over the course of one night their friendship is pushed to the extreme, when Gary, a shy and anxious man decides that he is willing to do anything to get some money in his pocket, unknowingly choosing the boys as unexpected victims in his robbery.
Tension builds as Gary aims a gun at the boys, and demands that he gets the cash from the register. Only problem, Avery freezes up behind the register at the sight of the gun, causing the boys to argue over which one the gun should be pointed at.

Avery (17), is a loud mouthed teenager who talks over everyone, but is charming and charismatic so everyone lets him. His friendship with fellow classmate Nate is newly formed thanks to their part time jobs. He’s brash, and loud but his welcoming energy keeps people wanting to be his friend.
Nate (18), a straight A student who is a smart ass. His jaded opinions are pushed to the extreme with Avery. Nate’s need to be the smartest one in the room leads to constant tension. His emotions are charged by him wanting to be liked by everyone.
Gary (42), a sad sack whose inability to get a job, and in need of some cash robs a gas station. He’s an anxious ball of stress, and every inconvenience no matter the size weighs his self esteem down.

We're also excited to announce that we will be shooting 16mm film, which will bring a classical feel to our film.

Shooting on film is a format almost all filmmakers dream of working on, but is often not achievable due to reel and processing costs. We want to give our crew the opportunity to work on 16mm, and allow viewers to see the beauty of celluloid.
Our team is made up of entirely Michigan filmmakers, and we want to honor our state in the film. Our gas station will be stocked with local, Michigan-made brands in addition to what our art teams creates.
