The Story

Sean and Jacklyn are recent exes. When they begin to separate their belongings, they arrive at the final piece: “SPACE RAIDERS 3”, a video game that the both of them have had an intense obsession with. With just one copy between them, only one of them can walk away with the copy and the joy of gaming as a coping mechanism. Through an evening filled with Cheeze-Itz, Knights, and annoying siblings, Sean and Jacklyn learn more about the depths of their relationship unlike ever before.

Since the start of 2025, I started to reconnect with my inner-gamer and the community involved. From listening to podcasts such as Get Played, rediscovering gaming YouTube channels, and just playing lots of video games, I felt the connection once more. With my writer/filmmaker brain on the other hand, I noticed there weren't many stories being told through film about this community. Over the summer, I made it a goal to write something that dives into the beautiful parts of being a gamer. Thus came “1V1 ME BABE!”
A story of a struggling couple who face the toughest custody battle they’ll ever experience: a video game they’re both obsessed with. There was a therapeutic feeling getting to write a short about two gamers arguing about video games & love. The short quickly became more than just about video games and paying correct homage, but its about communication in relationships. There is so much we wish to communicate, whether that’s to a significant other, a friend, or a loved one. This film will pose and answer the question: how do we communicate we want something when words can only do so much?

YOUR SUPPORT! Whether that be through a generous contribution or even the “share” button, your involvement in this production is vital to making it a reality. Through a 3-day shoot we will be telling the story of Sean and Jacklyn, not only in their NYC Apartment, but also in their final duel. Yes we said duel! We will have an amazing stunt team working with us to pull off fight choreography safely and creatively. Many aspects of our production need financial support. These funds will be used to cover costs such as food for cast and crew, appropriate pay for stunt team and performers, and equipment to be used by our wondering Director of Photography, Diego Ruiz de Velasco! We are so excited to tell this story and hope you can be involved in any capacity, and we thank you so much for your support!
