The Story

Our team feels we’re not telling a basic Rom-Com with this project. We’re taking it to another level as we take a deeper look into the genre. The four women that lead this film will take us on quite the journey.
We have compiled a team of amazing talent to tell this compelling story that takes a new look at the traditional Rom-Com and dives deep into the lives of four women as the evaluate their where they are now and where they want to be.
We would love for you to not only help us make this film a reality but also come along for the ride and watch as we make our way through the journey. We are currently in the pre-production phase and this campaign with be the catalyst we need to launch us into production. Help us bring these characters to life on the big screen, to local festivals, and the homes of our supporters and fans.
Our Goal:
Our goal is set at $13,000. We believe with our hard work and dedication this goal will get us through production.
Our stretch goal is $20,000.
With the additional $7,000, we will be able to expand the project with better equipment and even additional locations not to mention we will be able to submit to our dream festivals.
There are a lot of expenses when making a film and if we exceed our goal it will make it easier to cover such thins as:
Insurance: As our projects go to the next level, larger casts and multiple locations, insurance becomes a requirement to keep everyone protected wherever we find ourselves shooting during this project.
Intimacy Coordinator: Since this project is centered around relationships in different stages it is important to make sure that communication is key and by having the IC on set and a valued liaison between the director and the actors it ensures that the best project will be made and everyone will be comfortable and heard during the process.

My name is Brittany Benedict and I am the director of 5683. I am truly grateful to you for taking the time to review this campaign! I greatly appreciate your consideration in supporting the production of our film!
5683 at its heart is a story of discovery where our female protagonist not only searches for love, but must also find balance as she juggles the many aspects of her life. While her experience may be specific to her, the emotional struggles she faces are incredibly relatable. At various points we all tip the scales unevenly. We ask ourselves “am I focusing too much on my work,” “do I consider myself enough,” “do I consider others enough,” “am I being a good friend, ”what have I gained, but what have i sacrificed?” And while we follow her on such an empathetic journey, we get to do so to the tune of a witty and fun Romantic Comedy!
I would say rom-coms are my guilty pleasure, but in the spirit of the four leading female characters of 5683 who are confidently comfortable being themselves, this is where I stand up, unashamed, in front of the group and say “My name is Brittany and I’m not afraid to say I love Rom-coms.”
I believe that every genre has its place in filmmaking and this one holds an important one. A good rom-com offers a lighthearted escape while celebrating love in all its forms, entertaining and uplifting audiences. And I truly believe that 5683 is all of these things and more!
I’m proud that this project not only stands as an admirable and entertaining film, but it is also a female driven and acted story, made in Iowa, by locals and some of the most talented and driven people I’m honored to know.
Your belief in our vision and your contributions are invaluable, and we are truly thankful for your support.

Vanessa is a career driven, self-proclaimed bachelorette, independent woman who is comfortable watching the women around her navigate their own relationships. She is forced to navigate a dating world determined by her friends while trying to keep their friendships intact. This film follows her as she navigates the dating world while keeping her friends together and her career on track.
The idea for this story came to life when Kevin was having dinner with his siblings and they were discussing movies and dating stories. When the idea of people able to obtain the name of their true love making dating more of an adventure and less of a task. They laughed it off and enjoyed the rest of their siblings night out.
For weeks Kevin couldn’t let the idea go and before he knew it the theme, premise, and core group of friends were created. He then decided to run with the project and ended up with a 90 page script. It’s been through several readers and edits to fine tune everything from character points and arcs to set-ups and pay offs, and team assembly. And now this team believes it is ready for the world.
The world of 5683 is a unique one that the team would describe as a gritty glam which takes special care to craft. We feel extremely lucky to have such a great team, dare we say perfect, involved in crafting this world. And now we turn to you, our supporters, to help us bring this story to life.
