A naive detective finds herself privy to a murder mystery involving posh socialites, madcap scientists, and scandals to spare.
Why This Matters
We believe that great cinema isn't perfect, but it's entertaining and aspirational. It's an invitation to step beyond what we know into a world of challenge and hope. By partnering with local actors, crew members, and producers, we play a role in the creation of jobs in the Belfast film industry. Soul Catalyst Films is an independent film studio; our work seeks to bridge cultural divides, to stir people, and to ask life's biggest questions. We believe the answers you discover are better than the answers you're given.
People may have stopped going to the cinema, but they haven't stopped loving the movies. We want to bring back the thrill of the golden age. We don’t want to tell you what to think, or how to feel. We want to invite you into an adventure — the joy and passion of artists who love cinema as it used to be. Take part in A Good Old-Fashioned Murder.
Summary
Our film follows a young woman named Vicki Virtue, an inexperienced private investigator who is certain she can handle the Norwood investigation on her own, without her father's help. When he shows up, and refuses to leave, she finds his experience is as helpful to her as her self-restraint is to him. Together they handle a greedy widow, a mad scientist, a snooty butler and... did we mention a vicious murder?
Characters
Vicki Virtue
With wide, innocent eyes and a determined spirit, this detective is drawn into a shadowy world of deceit. She embarks on a perplexing case involving a successful businessman who mysteriously excluded his wife from his will before his death. As dark secrets unravel, the truth she seeks may determine her own fate.

Vince Vice
Originally hired to investigate a missing will, he arrives after his daughter, Vicki due to his rye allergy. He joins her in solving the case of the missing will while navigating a night with wealthy individuals who are determined to line their pockets with cash.
Collette Norwood
The widow of Desmond Norwood, a successful businessman who has it all. Well, she was cut out of his will right before he mysteriously passed away. Coincidence? I think not.
Westerfield
The loyal butler is dedicated to protecting his employer, but what secrets is he keeping?
Dr. Emelio Franco
A dedicated German scientist is driven by an unwavering obsession to unravel the mysteries of the mind. Yet, he finds himself in a desperate search for funding to support his groundbreaking research. But what is he trying to escape?
e Dee Duffy
As a rising star in the vibrant London theatre scene, she arrives with the expectation of reveling in the evening's festivities. Yet, the moment a dazzling watch captures her attention, her entire view of the party transforms, igniting her curiosity and changing the course of her night.

Thomas Matheson
The local vicar, also the executor of Desmond Norwood’s will, is haunted by his past with Colette as he is invited to a dinner party.
The Maid
Hired as a temporary employee for the Norwood estate, this poor woman is caught in the crosshairs of deception and backstabbing friendships all while trying to serve dinner.
Budget & Fundraising
What are you giving to? We're a small, scrappy team of filmmakers bringing our passion for cinema to an uplifting adventure without any heavy-handed messaging.
Our commitment to our donors is an entertaining film for adults to enjoy that's safe for your kids. A film that lifts up family instead of division, and is more fun to watch with a bucket of buttery popcorn. We're 79% funded before we launch this crowd-funding campaign and we're all in. We're making the movie either way, but your donation helps us to sleep at night as we're able to focus our attention on creating the project rather than worrying about the inability to pay our crew.
It is important for our supporters to understand how their donation will be used in our budget. Our fundraising goal is US $12,000 (£8,819). This amount covers the remaining production costs. Our total budget is a little over US $50,000 and we're incredibly grateful for all of the support we've already received!
