Do you remember that time during the pandemic when no one was sleeping? Sophia does! As she navigates through the midnight hours, Sophia will try everything and anything for just a morsel of shut eye. From a booty call to TikTok dances, she literally tries everything until...
her phone decides to chime in.

- Given our current political climate, we are looking for a bit of joy within the chaos and sadness. Looking back at the pandemic feels like a century ago, but we came out on the other side of it. Maybe with a bit of levity we can come out of the other side of 2026.
- We wanted to give opportunities to female identifying and non binary people. A recent stat hit our feeds that women film directors only make up 13% of directors, which is insane. We are here to move the needle of creating opportunities & communities within film & tv. Our entire crew will be female identifying. We are over the moon to be collaborating with strong, independent, creative people.
- "We want to make something!" This phrase rings in every creative's mind, but money is always holding creative people back. (We are so over it!) So... here we are. We are making something! We are doing this scrappy and being resourceful. With your donations we can take care of our crew in the process.
- We're all struggling with sleep. This is so relatable.

A Study of Insomnia Durning a Pandemic is a comedic short film with a hint of surrealism. Comps would be Her meets Miss Congeniality.

$2,000! With $2,000 we can rent lighting gear, purchase props & wardrobe, and pay our crew. This is the most important goal for us. As most creatives navigate through life doing unpaid work, and it an absolute must to pay our crew. Their time and hard work drives this short and allows to keep creating more. We are also looking to have marketing dollars that will be used to showcase the short and take it to festivals.
Our stretch goal is $3,000! With additional funds we can distribute our film in other ways besides festivals like possibly doing a public screening.

"I have found in times of hardship, I find myself constantly going back to media I have seen before. It's comfort food and I know it won't ruin my day. I began asking, 'How do I become someone's comfort food?' As I snacked on Parks & Recreation, I reached out my friend Janette Danielson. She had this script from the pandemic times that has been waiting to be seen by the world. It felt like a perfect match.
A Study Of Insomnia Durning A Pandemic not only felt incredibly relatable, it made a difficult period of time seem silly. As someone who grew up with Brides Maids, Wedding Crashes, Dodgeball, Anchorman, Miss Congeniality, I knew I had to direct.
Sweet Dreams,
xo

Liz Kummer (she/her) is an actor, director, producer & all the jazz across stage and screen. In 2016, she co-founded It’s Personal, a solo performance theater and film company that ran successfully for five years, creating space for deeply personal, original narratives.
Acting

Liz directed It's Personal for five years and loved seeing the transformation of a piece of writing to fully accomplished piece. She has worked as an AD, PA, Production Designer, Wardrobe Assistant, and every job in between. (Literally. One day she ended up doing sound on set with no experience.) Liz's happy place is set and can't wait to work on A Study Of Insomnia During A Pandemic.
The Producers - Giovana Frediani & Janette Danielson
Hi, we’re Giovana and Janette. We met our freshmen year of college, despite growing up a mere 10 miles away from each other in the Bay Area. Over the course of four years, an internship at a major production company and many existential crises, our friendship was solidified. Living together post- graduation, Giovana told Janette about a script she was working on, and asked if Janette could help her write it. Cut to six years later, we are establishing ourselves not only as screenwriters, but filmmakers as well in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles.
Under the banner of Fred & Dan Productions, we have completed four feature scripts and an original pilot. Our goal with Fred & Dan is to tell the stories of young women making their way in the world that we feel we didn’t necessarily have or see growing up. We not only want to put our voices out there but we want to help shape the new narratives coming forward and drive it in a direction that is more inclusive and understanding of all stories.

Penned, produced and starring Mary, the film was made by an all-female shooting crew of 23 women. Spaghetti is currently being served on all Virgin Aircraft.
