The Story
Behind A Tale of Gothica
Creating A Tale of Gothica has been an incredible journey—a labor of love fueled by our passion for gothic fantasy storytelling. This proof-of-concept short film is just the beginning, serving as a glimpse into a much larger world that will come to life in both a novel and a future feature film. Every scene, costume, and set detail has been carefully crafted to immerse you in its eerie, enchanting world.

A Tale of Gothica is a gothic fantasy epic that blends horror, romance, and adventure. Set in a dark, otherworldly realm, the story follows Queen Opheil, a mysterious and powerful ruler bound by fate and sacrifice. As an ancient evil looms over the kingdoms of Servaia, a group of complex characters—including the enigmatic Vant, the noble Cascal, the resilient Anika, the cunning Rin, and the coniving Telemach—find themselves entangled in a struggle of saving the world or saving themselves.
This tale is not just about love, but about power, duty, and the fragile line between salvation and destruction. The film explores isolation, existential dread, and the sacrifices made in pursuit of truth and survival. Told in a surreal, nonlinear style, A Tale of Gothica immerses viewers in a dreamlike experience where disjointed sounds, immersive visuals, and layered symbolism reveal the hidden depths of its haunting world.
At its core, the story challenges the conventions of fantasy romance, offering a deeply woven narrative of world-building and lore that invites audiences into an adult reimagining of the fantasy adventures they once loved.

A huge part of A Tale of Gothica’s immersive world is its production and costume design. From the intricate costume details to the ethereal, handcrafted set pieces, our art department has gone above and beyond to create something truly stunning.
