LOGLINE | Riley, harboring unrequited feelings for her best friend Amber, imagines a world where their friendship evolves into something more.
THE STORY
This film follows two female leads, Riley and Amber. Riley, the birthday girl, is kind, introspective, and a bit of a tomboy. Amber is her free-spirited, outgoing best friend, whom Riley is harboring a secret crush on. When Riley receives a birthday cupcake and makes a wish, she longs for a world where she and Amber could be more than just friends. However, there's a significant obstacle: Amber has a boyfriend.
"A wish" explores themes of identity and the universal experience of navigating the complexities of friendship and unrequited love, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community.

A Wish" is a film inspired by personal experiences and the stories of my peers, but also the essence of human nature. It's safe to say that all of you reading this have at least once in your life, have had a crush on a friend. It's a distinct and unique feeling—awkward, a bit gross, yet undeniably bittersweet and relatable. Now, I have the incredible opportunity to bring this feeling to life visually through our characters, Riley and Amber.
This story is important because it delves into the complexities of unrequited love and the challenges of navigating friendships that may hold deeper feelings. It's a narrative that resonates with many, especially within the LGBTQ+ community, where the journey of self-discovery and understanding can be both beautiful and tumultuous. "A Wish" aims to capture the essence of these experiences, offering a heartfelt portrayal of love, friendship, and the search for identity.

As a micro-budget student film, the major cost we're looking at is acquiring equipment. Fortunately, we can rent the rest of the equipment we need from our school, and our location is free of charge. However, the location is a bit far from campus, so we want to ensure we have enough funds for crew members who don't have cars and can't carpool, allowing them the opportunity to still be involved. Additionally, we'll need funds for food to keep our amazing crew energized and props to bring our story to life!
Our minimum funding goal is $400, which will cover the essentials needed to complete this film. However, any additional funds raised will be towards various stretch goals:
$700: We will be able to pay our cast and crew.
$900: We can pay our cast and crew at higher rates.
$1000: This will enable us to pay our cast and crew even higher rates, acquire additional equipment, and submit film to festivals!
Schedule
