Mission Statement
Diversity has been crucial to the film's development. HANA MAE LEE stars as the female lead. She joins a cast that includes Jordan Peele as the protagonist's best friend. Kerry Marlowe, our producer, is one of many women. Both men and women fill key positions of the cast and crew.About The Project
My husband and I love making movies and even with two crazy young kids running around we still find time to make it all work.
We have poured so much into this film. Many times it's only the two of us doing the work of 20 people, just to keep the costs down. We are fortunate to have a lot of production experience, having made two features and countless shorts, that we can pull it off...to a point (which is where crowdfunding comes in!).
ABRUPTIO is an homage to the horror styles of the 70s. The whole movie uses puppets throughout to portray a dark and sinister world. There are no live actors anywhere in sight. A feature like this has never been attempted before.
The movie is about Les Hackel (James Marsters), a guy down on his luck who discovers an explosive device has been implanted in his neck. He must carry out heinous crimes in order to stay alive while trying to identify the masterminds manipulating the now twisted and strange world around him.
With incredible talent like the legendary Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger) and Oscar-Winner Jordan Peele among the cast, we know we have a very commercial and exciting film to show.
But we need to now raise funds for the next stage of our project. This funding will be used to fabricate more puppets for our skilled puppeteers to work with, and then to film another big scene where there will be a lot of blood.
All monies raised will go towards practical production for phase 2 and some post production such as grading and visual effects. We have already filmed a quarter of the movie and recorded almost all of the voice talent.
We hope to do a big Comic-Con panel with the cast (some of whom are horror icons) in 2019, so we are pushing production along as fast as our finances will take us. The results so far are pretty mind-blowing.
