When a jaded fallen angel meets a sassy little seven-year-old, the two form an unlikely bond, before life has other plans. "This film is inspired by real people I've lost and learning to live with that grief. If you've ever lost somebody and know that same pain, this film is for you"— Luisa (Writer)

Mission Statement

We want this film to get people to look at death in a new way and, more importantly, to get people to appreciate and cherish all those they have in their lives, as they won't be around forever.

The Story

About our Film:

Damien, a jaded angel, is tasked with delivering people to death. He receives "assignments" from an unknown higher source known as "Life." Damien now treats this as a mundane 9-5 where his invisibility to humans keeps him emotionally isolated. While he is taking the life of an elderly man, he is noticed by a young girl, Zoe. Her relentlessness and curiosity force Damien to bring her along with the difficult job. Zoe’s childlike perspective forces Damien to face himself and see the humanity within the people he takes. His appreciation and softness grow as he spends more of his day with her. This culminates in his receiving his final “assignment” or life he must take, and telling Zoe to say her final goodbyes to her grandfather.

Agent of Death plans to approach this story through fantasy, humor, and emotional sincerity. The contrast between Damien’s cynical worldview and Zoe’s childlike curiosity makes for an easily lovable bond and creates moments that are funny, tender, and devastating all at once. The film stands out visually and tonally. A man with black wings and a business suit wandering around a hospital is memorable and intriguing. While the contained location allows the story to easily delve into intimate and character-driven moments.

Our Crew:

As filmmakers, every single crew member is dedicated and excited to bring this vision to life from pre-production all the way to post. Here are some statements from some of our crew members...

Luisa Isabel Galván (Writer):

"I think conversations about death are really hard to have, but it's really important in order to appreciate life. [T]he humor and lightness I added to the script is something I'm really proud of."

Analiz Lara-Lopez (Director):

"My artistic style explores raw truths, emotions, and lessons we tend to shy away from in our day-to-day. That's why I loved this story ever since I first heard it. It explores the complicated topic of death while balancing both the darkness and the light that surrounds it. The team is so amazing to work with, and I'm just excited to be able to bring Luisa's script to life."

Julian Ambriz II (Producer):

"I think one of the main things that interested me about joining this project, aside from the beautiful story and the motivations behind it, [is] primarily the passion that is behind this team and everyone creating this. It's something that inspires me, it's something that makes me excited to be a part of this train, this very ambitious train."

Aram Martinez (Director of Photography):

"Even before reading the script, just the idea of a sorta Grim Reaper character connecting or creating this special bond with this person and through that person reagaining back his humanity in a sense—I find that really beautiful."

Joaquin Salas (Sound Supervisor):

"This story is so emotionally impactful and touching to me, and I jumped at the opportunity to work on it."

Ravi Pierce (Production Designer):

"When I read the script, I was immediately reminded of The Sixth Sense, which is one of my all-time favorite movies. And to be able to immerse myself in that own experience, I really want to be able to create just as many easter eggs in the background and any form of arts and crafts."

Santiago Martinez (Editor):

"Ever since I saw the script and saw how passionate everyone was about the project, I was really invested and really interested. It also reminded me of one of my comfort films, which is Meet Joe Black. "

People should support this project because it speaks to something universal. Everyone has experienced grief, feared losing someone, or struggled to understand mortality. Supporting this film means supporting an emotionally ambitious story that combines fantasy elements and humanity, designed to stay with audiences long after it ends.
