The Story

"A troubled young artist, returns home after the death of her estranged father. While trying to process her trauma, she seeks a distraction by visiting a local alien themed festival. The popular outdoor event, and former UFO crash-site, morphs from smiling families at a pumpkin patch to dead bodies on blood-soaked soil. As visitors begin brutally attacking one another, she’s forced to fight for more than her own survival."
Picture it. You're spending a nice sunny Saturday at an outdoor alien themed festival. Smiling families wearing sci-fi costumes pick pumpkins, friends run through a corn maze, then strangers begin murdering one another with anything they can get their hands on...
Throughout the history of cinema, movies have given us an escape from our daily lives. When things are tough, they transport us to another place and time where we can detach from reality for a while. That's as important now as it's ever been. Our team is very experienced in low budget indie filmmaking, with many award winning sci-fi and horror titles under our belt. We want to use those previous experiences to help tell this story and offer that escape, but we need your help to do it!

When Wanda was young, she dreamed of leaving her small town behind. After being abandoned by her mother, she was raised by a physically abusive father. The day she turned eighteen she left town, promising she’d never return. Years later, she learns that her estranged father has died suddenly in a car crash. Reluctantly, she returns home to settle family affairs and finally sever her connection to that place for good. It’s tough finding your way in this world when you feel disconnected no matter where you are. As Wanda struggles internally with the feeling of never being “home”, she finds herself thrust into chaos as she’s physically forced to fight for her life as well as those she cares for most.

My artistic endeavors have both kept me anchored to my hometown and forced me to venture further out into the world, searching for creative opportunities. This can come at a toll as I’ve often felt like I don’t belong in one specific place. I know all too well the yearning to spread my wings and explore new lands, leaving behind the place that forged me. The catch is that when I’m “home” I want to leave, and when I’m far away, I want nothing more than to come “home”.
It’s a tricky concept that I still struggle with to this day. That sense of not quite belonging anywhere is what led to this story and the character of Wanda. Her name means, “shepherdess or wanderer”, which feels appropriate for her journey. She’s struggling with the path she’s been given and how she should proceed. I hope I can help her navigate this winding road, and perhaps learn something about my self along the way.

We're creating this film on a shoe string budget, as they say. It wouldn't be possible without the hard work and sacrifice of everyone that joins the team. These incredibly talented artists often take huge pay cuts to work on passion projects for their friends. Without them there'd be no point in writing this script or launching this fundraiser. Essentially, we're aiming to create a $100,000 film with just a $23,000 cash operating budget. We're trying to raise $10,000 of that 23k budget through this fundraiser. Of course, we'd be thrilled to raise more here and start including stretch goals.
ALIEN EYES is currently in pre-production, which means we're polishing the script, securing locations, and preparing for auditions. We'll be filming this fall in the north Mississippi area. All funds raised here will go towards compensating our cast and crew, feeding them, purchasing props, costumes, and set pieces. Once the film is complete, we'll secure distribution and the movie will be released via a small film festival run, followed by several streaming platforms both in the U.S. and internationally.
You can see a breakdown of our proposed budget below, as well as in our "wish list." Contact us at [email protected] if you're interested in being an investor on the film. Entry level investor begins at $500. Follow our director at @glennematic on social for updates!

The excitement and support for our little film has already been incredible. With your help we hope we can smash through our perceived ceiling and really raise the stakes. If we're able to reach our fundraising goal we'll aim for our stretch goals of $15,000, $20,000, and $25,000!
$15,000 = When we hit 15k we'll be thrilled to PAY OUR CAST & CREW MORE up front, as well as ADD ADDITIONAL CREW MEMBERS to our already incredible team of artists!
$20,000 = If we make it to 20k we'll be able to seriously beef up our PRACTICAL & VISUAL FX so that our creature, kills, and sci-fi elements are totally out of this world!
$25,000 = Should we get to 25k, we'll set our sights on a WELL-KNOWN ACTOR from the horror / sci-fi genre to help bring some extra eyeballs and gravitas to our little big film!
We're beyond excited to go on this journey with you. From the bottom of our hearts, we THANK YOU for all that you've done to help us breathe life into this film and this community!!!
